A smile flickered across his face at her response, because of course that was her answer. Zelda was tired more often than she should be, so that would have been in character, but usually she was running herself ragged at work, not staying up all night because of her too-quiet room.

"I'll try not to keep you waiting too long," he said lightly, leaning in to kiss her forehead. Then with a more teasing tone, he added, "But if it gets really bad, you're welcome to my bedroom whenever you please."

Zelda grinned again at the mention of their marriage — of course if it was up to Alfred they would have been married ages ago, but if Roslyn was inviting him to dinner then surely her father would change his mind sooner rather than later.

"I'll keep that in mind," she said playfully, "You know, in case of emergencies." The thought of coming to his flat for fun, and not because she had to, made her feel a little thrill in her chest — it was also reminiscent of the early days of their relationship, before he'd asked Brannon to court her the first time, although of course then she had not really ended up recreationally in the bedroom of his flat. (Never mind the Voyager.)
