History:
- 1863: Ambrose is born to his parents George and Dorothy Chambers at their home in magical London.
- 1865: Ambrose’s younger sister Matilda is born. Ambrose takes great joy in being an older brother. Matilda is a sickly child and has multiple close calls in her early years.
- 1866: Ambrose’s first episode of accidental magic. While visiting a unicorn reservation with his maternal grandparents, he magically nudges the latch on a gate open and is narrowly stopped from going into one of the pens.
- 1869: Matilda caught a severe case of scrofungulus. She was taken to St. Mungo’s but did not recover.
- 1874: Ambrose attends Hogwarts and is sorted into Slytherin. He takes to most of his magical classes well and opts to take art as well. However, he discovers that he has the opposite of a green thumb and begins a five year struggle with Herbology.
- 1876: Ambrose begins his third year at Hogwarts, taking Care of Magical Creatures, Muggle Studies, and Ghoul Studies as his electives. He also continues to take art. During this year his temper flared for the first time when another student insulted his family and invoked his sister's name in said insults. He tried to arrange a duel with the other student as a detour on their way back from astronomy class. They and their seconds were discovered by a prefect and told not to lolligag on their way back to their common room with a deduction of house points for good measure. Nobody but the four of them know what they were planning, and other than that minor incident the rest of the year goes smoothly.
- 1878: Ambrose is chosen as the new male Slytherin prefect for the 1878-1879 school year and takes to the role well in addition to preparing for his O.W.L.s. Ambrose’s paternal grandparents, already ailing and left heartbroken by the exile of wizardkind, both pass away. Algernon left his grandson a small parcel of property he owned as an inheritance.
- 1879: Ambrose achieved O.W.L.s in Charms, History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, Ghoul Studies, and Muggle Studies. He got by with barely Acceptable grades in Transfiguration, Potions and Astronomy for three additional O.W.L.s. He failed his Herbology O.W.L. to the surprise of neither himself nor his professor. Entering his sixth year, Ambrose continued with Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, Ghoul Studies, and Muggle Studies as N.E.W.T. courses.
- 1881: At the end of his seventh year, Ambrose graduated with N.E.W.T.s in Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, Ghoul Studies, and Muggle Studies. In the latter course especially, he is outspoken in his support of muggleborns to the disdain of some of his housemates.
- 1882: While working was not necessary for someone of his background and newfound property, Ambrose detested the idea of being still and so was a clerk for a private defense lawyer in wizarding London. He learned the laws of wizarding Britain and spent the next few years studying great works of law, both magical and muggle.
- 1884: His father George passed away in the Laughing Plague, leaving a majority of his estate to Ambrose. He saw to it that his mother continued to live comfortably and used the additional income generated by his father’s land holdings and investments to purchase a home in Wellingtonshire.
- 1885: With the blessing of the lawyer teaching him, Ambrose represented a very selective client base. His focus remained on his writing while his career in law was more or less an intellectually-stimulating diversion.
- 1886: Ambrose’s first book, a commentary on the legal status and treatment of werewolves in society, took off and caused a bit of a stir. Ambrose dedicated all of his time to writing after its success and stopped any regular legal work.
- 1889: Ambrose’s first play opens to great fanfare and mostly favorable reviews.
- 1891: In honor of his late father’s passion for Quidditch and as an outlet for some of his wealth, Ambrose became the sponsor of Puddlemere United in February of 1891 when the previous sponsor vacated their position. He has become much more active in the Quidditch world and attends all of Puddlemere’s matches.
Other:
- The Chambers Family: The Chambers family is proud of their pureblood heritage, but don’t see blood purity as an automatic sign of quality or virtue. The Chambers family tree is proudly displayed in their London home as a massive tapestry retracing centuries of family history with a few exceptions. They are not eager to claim a distant relation to Wendelin the Weird.
- Languages: English, Latin, and some French
- Patronus: Fox (Conjured with some difficulty)
- Unknown to anyone else except for a single close friend from Hogwarts, Ambrose is secretly bisexual.
