Petite, at 5’ 1”, Lulah is still quite trim, even after her several pregnancies. She has fair English skin, dark chestnut hair and hazel eyes. Never quite considered the typical “English Rose” by any standards, she has never had many curves either, unless laced into a tight corset. She keeps her appearance neat and tidy, with the foremost of fashions for both herself and her daughters. Veering toward softer hues, Lulah prefers greens, blues and purples, though will occasionally opt for a brighter red when the mood strikes. She knows now her place is to complement her girls in society and therefore does not want to take any attention away from them. Her posture is straight and poised, she knows when to step in and when to watch. Her one splurge is her jewelry, though often understated in color, she is not shy when it comes to jewels, especially necklaces. Her hair is often swept back into the latest styles, thanks to her very talented lady’s maid, however at home, when her children are all retired for the evening, she resorts back to loose waves or a braid for sleep.History:
1846-1857
ChildhoodLulah’s childhood is nothing of note, she was the middle of several children herself and very much fit the role. She played mediator well and was a good enough student, talented at languages and the piano forte but beyond that fit her station quite well; look pretty, marry well and start a family was the goal she was brought up to have and unlike some of her siblings, she was fine with this. Her first act of magic came from the immediate clean up of a tea spill; ever the people pleaser. 1857-1864
HogwartsSpending her time in Hufflepuff quite comfortably, Lulah focuses on practical classes like charms, though finds herself most at home in art, music and etiquette. Her education is superfluous at best and she knows that, but she is determined to make it useful to her interests at the very least. She pares down to the minimum classes during NEWTs and graduates to her own personal debut. Summer 1864
First SeasonLulah goes into her first season with tempered expectations. With her older sister’s relatively quick success, she feels like the pressure is on, but does not know how she will fare in the slightest. The season winds up being a good learning experience and she has several suitors, nothing pans out, but she does not consider it a failure. Christmas 1864
The CountrysideIt is in the off season that Lulah winds up shining. Without the pressure she enjoys playing the piano forte at gatherings and it is how she catches the eye of Shepherd Kensington and the two form an attachment that only grows and solidifies the more often he calls upon her and the more time they spend together. 1865
MarriageTheir official engagement is announced in June at the start of the season and they wed in July at the Kensington Estate. Their honeymoon is long and lovely and by Christmas of the same year, they are expecting. 1866-Present
MotherhoodLulu thrives in both the social setting and at home as a mother, she is doting and attentive. Her pregnancies are fairly uncomplicated and she handles each addition with ease (and the help of some very dedicated staff). As her children grow and head off to Hogwarts (and graduate!) Lulu struggles to find her place, but manages to make the best of it, finding hobbies and worthy philanthropic endeavors to focus on. It is when Yvonne graduates that she finds her children in need of her once again. Her boys had endeavors and travel to occupy themselves, but her girls will need her guidance on the marriage mart and she feels that she is doing well enough! With one daughter married, it is time to focus on Willa and Viola in turn as they debut and start their seasons. Her mode of operation is gentle guidance; they need to make their own (appropriate) mistakes and learn from them, but she is always there, nearby in case they need her. Especially with her husband traveling often for work.
Personality:
OBSERVANT | PATIENT | PROTECTIVE
After six children Lulah has got the mothering thing down to a science. She’s pretty good at reading people and her children are no exception. She has always been social and amiable, easy to talk to and forthcoming, especially after her marriage. She flourished in the social scene as a socialite and has come to enjoy hosting parties and luncheons among her peers, meeting the changing ties as she aged and had children. She only wants the best for her children, but also understands they need to live their own lives. It is a tough line to walk and she has not done it perfectly, but she does try and her intentions are only of the most pure mind. Lulah is very much in love with her husband and wishes for a love match for each of her children, even if they are not quite so sure.
