Appearance:

Above average. Those are the words Gregory would use to describe his appearance with a cheeky smile, when trying to be funny or flirting with a young lady. In some respects, it is empirically true: he stands at just under five feet, eleven inches with a frame more muscular than many. His clothing—largely muggle fashion, after rumours a student a few years ahead of him lost a testicle to a garden gnome—is well-made and suits his physique and complexion well.

In most respects, though, it is very much in the eye of the beholder. He inherited his father’s dark curls and his complexion is a blend of both parents, a milky tea. Dark eyes rest below darker brows, already starting to crinkle at the corners from frequent smiling. He has a small scar on his upper lip that is visible when clean-shaven, about which he tells a different story to everyone who asks but the truth is decidedly quite boring.

Timeline

1864	Halloween sees a third child—and second son—born to the Hart family of Dorset. Gregory John Hart arrives with relative ease, and is not a particularly demanding infant.
1869	His first act of magic sees Gregory reassemble his sister’s dollhouse. The fact that he had been the one to accidentally destroy it seems, in his mind, altogether irrelevant, under the circumstances. This is also the year that his sister, Beatrice, is born, making Greg no longer the literal or figurative baby of the family.
1873	Honour is born.
1876	Gregory joins his older siblings at Hogwarts, where he is sorted into Ravenclaw. This is rather a surprise to him and likely his family, as he had never been the most diligent pupil while in the care of the Harts’ governess. Learning magic, though, immediately strikes the lad as much more interesting than learning French, and the more hands-on courses swiftly ignite a deep curiosity. This is also the year that Simeon, the youngest of the Hart children, is born—given their mother’s age, it is correctly assumed that he will be the last addition to the family.
1877 - 1883	As he continues his studies, what was believed to be a boundless ball of energy and not much sense proves to be actually quite bright—when properly challenged, and when allowed to pursue his interests. He does not even try out for the quidditch team, instead adding a full roster of elective courses (Earth Magic, Care of Magical Creatures, and Ghoul Studies) in his third year. During his years at Hogwarts, Greg is eventually abandoned left by his elder siblings and joined by Beatrice. His years at the castle pass by otherwise unremarkably.
1883	Upon graduation, he accompanies his father and his elder brother on a four-month tour of the continent before settling into hell a Ministry desk job procured for him by his father in the Improper Use of Magic office. He hates it.
1884 - 1887	By day, Gregory works a job he hates; by night, he carouses with the best of them, developing a reputation as a bit of a rake (never too dire, of course!). He’s young, he has oats to sow! He chooses to take up residence of Excalibur, but sketches elaborate magical homes he would much rather live in.

1890	New Year, New Me: Gregory rather dramatically quits his job (“dramatically”:: he declares to his friends he would rather die than work there another day. In reality, he simply resigned in the usual way). He expects this to shock, or even anger, his father, but Rupert Sr. simply admits he’s surprised Greg lasted so long in the Ministry. Apparently, everyone in the family knew how miserable he was about it and expected he would just do something and then he didn’t. He feels like a bit of an idiot. By late summer, he has found his solution: he begins apprenticing with a magical architecture firm.
1891	His father suffers a heart attack while staying at the Sanditon Resort—ironically, the day before it is hit by a storm. He passes, leaving Rupert the Younger with a great deal of responsibility for his mother and sisters, Simeon with inheritance when he comes of age, and Gregory with… a larger inheritance than he expected, actually.
1894	With his thirtieth birthday slated for later in the year, Gregory knows he will be “homeless” soon as per the rules of Excalibur. With this in mind, he checks in with his man of business to begin working out the logistics of acquiring a proper house… only to be met with excuse after excuse. Something is not right.

Personality:

Gregory Hart has always been social. He makes friends easily and is fortunate enough to keep them long-term, though he often doesn’t open up enough to form particularly close bonds—he’s the sort to have lots of friends but few or no bosom friends. This is helped by his wide array of interests. (He would say he is charming, but your mileage may vary.)

He is intelligent and curious, but these have always been focused upon things that actually interest him: how things work, creation, and things that might have a whiff of danger about them.

Gregory has always strived to be loyal, practical, and reliable. Unfortunately, this kept him in a job he hated much longer than necessary. On the bright side, he got a man of business as soon as he inherited and has lived well within his means for the majority of his adult life.
