Matilda had taken up the first years to show them the common room and then left to do some first-night Prefect rounds. Little had she known all the chaos would be found when she stepped back through into the Ravenclaw common room – just in time to see the redheaded first year launch herself at Jessamine Parkinson like a hissing cat.
“MISS FAIRFAX!” Mattie yelled (– and whoever had thought she would have to put on her Extra Special Prefect voice on the first night of the year?). “Take your hands off Miss Parkinson at once, or I’ll have to Stupefy you myself!” (She had already pulled her wand out ready to cast a simple knock-back jinx to separate the two, not entirely sure that words would adequately sink in.)
The gaggle of Ravenclaws this year really were going to make her embarrassed to be one, weren’t they?
