1st August, 1893
C. Daphnel,
My thoughts are much the same as yours. It’s a blessing that Ross lasted as long as he did, and – even if the Wizengamot were pleased to see the back of him – that at least he has managed to set forth a few last measures against nepotism into law.
But it is a real concern that those sorts of families will try to revert back to the old-fashioned pureblood conservatism – did you see the rumours that Macmillan and Maxime might run? Neither will favour change. Aldous Crouch is confirmed to be campaigning, if you haven’t seen today’s Prophet yet – and he might be more moderate, but he’s still a pureblood. I’ve even heard whispers that bloody Picardy might run.
Do you know of anyone else who is prepared to run? I’ve been waiting for word from anyone remotely progressive in the Ministry, but I haven’t heard much. Nor anyone from outside the establishment, for that matter. I’ll admit that at this point I’ve half considered running, myself.
Sincerely,
J. Wright
