Full Name: Autumn Sage Fairfax
Nicknames: None (Unfortunately)
Birthdate: November 21, 1881
Current Age: 11 Years
Gender: Female
Occupation: Country Girl

autumn often gets into trouble with her muggle teacher for being a daydreamer, reading in class, being overly talkative, and blurting out answers, as well as the fact she's a bit more prone to running around and getting dirty for a young lady, however being a child it's fairly excusable. also, nobody knows that she is a bastard child of a debutante who was adopted, including her.

Residence: Fairfax Farm (Elsewhere)
Hogwarts House: Unknown
Wand: Unknown
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Social Class: Working Class

Family:

father: charles john fairfax [1850]
mother: marigold anise fairfax née gardner [1854]
brother: august basil fairfax [1886]
sister: rosemary mint fairfax [1889]

Appearance:

face claim: amybeth mcnulty
ethnicity: caucasian
height: 150 cm
weight: 45 kg
build: skinny
eyes: blue
hair colour: red
hair style: usually in braids or with a simple ribbon made with scrap cloth
distinguishing features: she has prominent freckles all over her face and body, has quite a few scars on her from various small accidents and incidents at the farm, and tends to have various bumps and bruises on her arms and legs from being clumsy.

scent: flowers, fresh soil, and wet ink

demeanor: autumn wears her heart on her sleeve and it's easy to be able to tell how she's feeling just by watching her; slow, sulking strides when she's sad, zipping around and bouncing on her toes when she's happy or excited, stomping around and huffing when she's angry. she is a very tactile person who likes to hold hands, hug, play with her friend's hair, etc. and sometimes this gets her into trouble because she often forgets to ask. autumn is also clumsy and not so great at balancing, though she is working on it, therefore watching her trip over her own two feet or drop things is a common occurrence.

fashion: while she is interested in the latest fashions, and longingly stares into the windows of dress shops when visiting london, wishing she could be one of those glamorous fashion plates, autumn knows her family can't afford anything of the sort and she'd probably look ridiculous in them anyway. all of her dresses are sewn by her mother and if there is any scraps left over she gets a ribbon made to match to wear in her hair. other things, such as hats or boots are old, hand-me-downs from her mother, bought second hand, or donated by charitable friends of the family. autumn is always running around when not doing her farm chores, so she often has some dirt on her stockings or dresses, and because she is clumsy, some of her clothes have patches due to her mother fixing tears and snags, but autumn makes a conscious effort to be careful when in her sunday best.

History:

early childhood
1881 - 1893

1881: she is born in a drafty, old farmhouse to a fifteen year old, wealthy, upper class future debutante from scotland, only having a few moments in the bright, shiny new world before she is swept out of the bedroom by her grandmother and placed into the arms of the farming couple who agreed to adopt her and promised to keep their mouths shut about the whole affair for a decent sum of money. days later, she is christened with her name for the season in which she was born, a gorgeous autumn.

1886: autumn finds joy living in the country, having plenty of room to toddle around and explore. she loves chasing around the chickens, napping with the dog, sitting among the flowers, and watching her father work the land. this year, the family is blessed with a baby boy in the summertime and again, they choose to give him a name to represent the time in which he was born - august. autumn isn't quite happy at first, as she was used to having most of the attention, but in time she loved auggie.

1888: despite being so young, there was nothing that autumn enjoyed more than reading and making up her own stories. she spent a lot of time wheeling auggie around in a wagon and telling him the wild things she'd dream up and read about, especially as she had been attending school and learning quickly. autumn loved school, and simply couldn't get enough, though she tended to not like her teacher who punished her often for her daydreaming habits and impulsive nature. if she managed to go a whole month without a caning or talking to from her teacher, her parents would treat her to a trip to london and might buy her an ice cream, or even better, a new book. this really helped curb some of her school problems, but it didn't fix it completely.

1889: once again, the family is blessed with a new baby and this time it's a little girl. just like her siblings, she is named for the season, a delightful springtime name of rosemary. autumn is enamored with baby rosie and she carries her around everywhere, but only after begging her parents for ages because she thinks she's big enough to handle it. however, autumn is clumsy and one time while showing rosie a newly born calf, she tripped and dropped her. suddenly, a burst of accidental magic came out and it made the ground temporarily bouncy and soft, causing rosie to be just fine. autumn was relieved, of course, but she could hardly believe what happened and she tried to explain it to her parents but they chalked it up to a child's imagination. in the coming weeks, autumn paid more attention to what she was doing, seeing if she could make something magical happen again.

1893: as she got older, autumn couldn't help but wonder why she looked nothing like her siblings, nor her parents - she was redheaded and freckled, whereas they had fair, blonde hair and no freckles. they told her she looked like a cousin of her father's, but as far as she knew, his family had passed so they could never prove it to her, as photographs wouldn't help. still, she was loved dearly by her parents and her siblings, whom she doted on everyday. autumn felt happy at home where she learned womanly trades from her mother, did farming chores with her father, and shared dreams and stories with auggie and rosie. a few more times she noticed her magic come out, but only when she was especially distressed, like when a teacher disciplined her or when she almost set the farmhouse aflame while cooking a shepard's pie. she still didn't know how to explain it, until one day she received a letter from hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry and a man came to her home to explain things to her parents. at first, her parents were very apprehensive, as it was unholy to have a witch in the family, and they needed her to stay and help out on the farm, plus it was expensive to send her, even with the first year paid for, but they seem to be starting to crack, and perhaps by september they will agree to let her go. autumn prays everyday that they do, as she is incredibly excited.

Sample Roleplay Post:

Ash shivered a bit as he pressed closer to the Ley Line, he was dressed in fine silk, certainly not fabric warm enough for the weather in the Real World, and he could feel a slight weight in his blood like he always did during the Autumn and Winter months. It made him curious, however, as he hadn't seen snow since his time in Thule since it really didn't get like that in the Seelie Court, and so Ash pressed further away from home and into the cold, snowy outside and towards a pond where he'd sometimes sit when he was feeling particularly daring. He was like a child, jumping up and down in the snow, running his pale fingers through it and then immediately regretting it as he shivered harder, and otherwise exploring this magnificent part of nature that he hadn't seen in years. He heard the sound of crunching footsteps in the snow and he ducked behind a rock, afraid it was one of his mother's guards, hoping to catch him. Ash knew his mother didn't allow him to venture so far from home.

A child? A little girl, it seemed, was heading towards the pond, and Ash popped out from behind the rock, "Be careful - I don't think the pond is fully frozen over." It looked thin on one side, but he supposed he couldn't be sure. Mina didn't seem to listen to him, and seemed more keen on exploring the snowy outdoors, but maybe that had more to do with how young she was and Ash considered if she was a mundane child, they weren't always wise beyond their years the way faerie children sometimes were. Ash went over to her, and knelt before her, "Excuse me, Miss, do you have a Mom? Or a Dad?" He could bring her back to them before she wandered off to Faerie where they had every legal right to keep her. Perhaps as Fae he ought to want to keep her, but Ash felt like he didn't want to risk the danger in case his mother decided to do something cruel to the poor thing on a whim.

It was just then he heard a boy call out for Mina and Ash immediately stood up, looking a bit guilty. He could tell right away he was a Shadowhunter, even as bundled up as he was, and it caused Ash’s wings to bristle slightly in panic - this could be trouble. "I wasn't going to take her," Ash said, wrapping his arms around himself to try and keep warm, but also out of defensiveness, "I know the laws - your Mina didn't cross into our lands and I wasn't going to make her." The last thing he needed was to get in trouble with the Clave, the law that governed them. He didn't know much about the Clave, other than what his mother told him (and the vague bits Janus said), and that it was horrible and wanted to kill people like him, "I was just asking her if she was lost."
