Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
To My Most Esteemed Quidditch-Playing Acquaintance,
(In fairness, the only Quidditch-Playing acquaintance I've enjoyed a full conversation with),
I'm not sure how to feel about your congratulations. Letters are such inadequate conveyors of tone, so I can't tell if you're teasing me or being sincere (and don't know which I would prefer). I do appreciate the cigars, though — being on the receiving end of gifts is a delightful role reversal from my usual habits. I would send you something in exchange, but nothing in Beijing fits your aesthetic, and I would never stoop to sending an ill-selected gift. I'll have to repay the debt when I return to England. If I forget, perhaps you'll have to find a creative way to remind me.
Saturday. We're attending the gala at the new gallery. One must be seen, or so I've been told.
Unfortunately my calendar doesn't have any of your sorts of parties coming up. Under normal circumstances I'd correct that by throwing one myself, but I haven't exactly worked out the logistics of it given my change of circumstances.

E. Selwyn,
Well, you shall have to let me know if and when you figure out logistics — enjoy the gallery opening et cetera. I'll be doing the whole "Quidditch-playing acquaintance" thing we do in the off-season, I believe.
