Appearance:

General | A young girl with dark golden hair, expressive brown eyes, and clear, light skin with a pinkish undertone, lending a rosiness to her cheeks, Hester is actually the spitting image of her late paternal grandmother in her youth, much to her parents' surprise. Though the portrait of her grandmother is quick to point out the slight cleft in Hester's chin, the one differentiating mark. She is of an average height for her age, and right-handed.

Expressions | At first glance, most might think Hester a morose young girl, given her almost sorrowful resting expression, but as one gets to know her, it is quickly dispelled, as she is highly animated about subjects of passion.

Deportment | Hester is the type to talk with her hands, a trait her governess has been trying to break. She also has a habit of slouching ever so slightly, though the practice stays she's been forced into help with that.

Fashion | Like most little girls, Hester's fashion is dictated by what her mother will purchase and her governess will dress her in, at present. She greatly looks forward to the day when she can wear school robes, though her governess insists she will wear practice stays all days.

Accessories | Still young, Hester has yet to develop attachment to any particular accessories, though she delights in wearing bows and ribbons in her hair when she can.

Scent | Presently barred from owning perfumes, Hester's main source of fragrance is the rose water her governess has insisted she wash with every morning.

History:

legends never die, they become a part of you
1883	The last of the Frey children, Hester Emmeline is yet only their second daughter, as though bookending five sons with an eldest and youngest daughter. She is an average babe, neither too difficult nor too easy, nor even sickly.
1887	Hester quickly learns that her eldest sibling, her only sister, wants little to do with her. As do all but her youngest elder brother. She begins her tutoring lessons.
1890	It's rather unusual, for the Frey family, that Hester's first act of magic does not come until she is seven years of age. Her siblings had theirs between five and six, but Mother has been reassuring Father that her own act of magic didn't happen until she was nine. But Hester's comes at the age of seven, during a tantrum over not wanting to go to her piano lesson — in which she sets fire to the family piano. Mother calms her eventually, after the piano is extinguished, and assures she will not have to go to piano lessons anymore.
1894	Hester is eager and ready for her first year at Hogwarts. Her mother's already taken her to get a wand, a beautiful piece of hawthorn wood, which she isn't presently allowed to have at hand and is kept in its box on a high shelf in her bedroom.

• A truly horrid intrumentalist, Hester much prefers to sing, whether accompanied or not. She would love to train operatically, as her singing tutor has said she has the making of a great coloratura soprano, but Father has forbidden it.

• An accomplished equestrian, Hester despises flying brooms, though she's never ridden one.
  
• As a young girl in the era, she has begun learning the other Feminine Arts as well, though she refuses to ever play an instrument again.
