A fair, slender woman with elfin features, clear blue eyes, and long, fine, white-gold hair, Bernadette Eloise Fernsby stands a tall-but-not-too-tall five feet, six inches in height. Her fashion is always the latest couture, typically of her own design, and always paired with flat slippers rather than the more fashion favored heels, that she may not seem so tall in a ballroom if she is found in one. She is naturally right-handed, and is never seen without the necklace bearing an intricately set lock of her husband’s sandy brown hair.
1851 After two years of trying, Tristan Delaroche and his English wife Abigail welcome their first and, they would find, only child, a daughter. She is named Bernadette Eloise, and they are happy. Tristan is aware of his wife’s magical proclivities, and surprisingly accepting of it, for a muggle.Personality:
1859 Her first act of magic, considering her future, is expected. Her mother walks into the nursery one day in an atrocious yellow and orange ensemble, truly terrible for her complexion. Bernadette turns the colors to a much more cool, muted blue, with accents of green, with naught but the shake of her head and the word “No.” Tristan is especially proud.
1862 As Bernadette enters the hallowed halls of Hogwarts, she finds herself sorted to Ravenclaw, the house of the intelligent. She’s pleased with herself, though her mother was a Hufflepuff. Two of her aunts were in Ravenclaw, though, she’s informed.
1864 Forced to add something to her class list, Bernadette chooses Earth Magic, as it seems the most useful thing to her planned eventual career in the fashion industry.
1867 As it turns out, Earth Magic seems quite useless to her future. So, upon receiving her OWL scores, she settles on three subjects she excelled in — Charms, Transfiguration, and Potions, the latter so that she may concoct her own hair and skin care potions. Not for consumer use, but for her own use. And maybe her future daughters.
1869 Following her NEWTs, Bernadette debuts in a custom gown, the last designed by her grandmother, and it is a success; she catches the eye of handsome, eligible bachelor Jonathan Fernsby. They are courting by the end of June, and engaged by November.
June 15, 1870 In a beautiful ceremony, dressed in a gorgeous white gown designed just for her by her father, Bernadette Delaroche becomes Bernadette Fernsby.
1871 Finally, come November, a child is born. She is named Juliette.
1873 Another girl is born, named Nicolette.
1874 A third girl, Violette, is born. Bernadette struggles with the birth this time, however, and requests of her husband that they not go through the effort to have a fourth. He acquiesces, albeit regretfully, as he wished desperately for a male heir to carry on his name.
1877 The Muggle Riots affect the family business somewhat, and put a rather shocking strain on the relationship between Bernadette and her father. In the end, however, she manages to remind him that she, and her children, and his wife, were all magical in nature, and would be thus for some generations. In November, Bernadette begins a late apprenticeship with her father, knowing that one day she will be the one running the business.
1879 Once the initial crush settles down, Bernadette insists that her husband arrange their move to Hogsmeade. They settle into a home in North Bartonburg. A door between Hogsmeade and Maison Bellerose in London is created.
1882 In a remarkably unfortunate turn of events, in October, Jonathan Fernsby somehow manages to fatally splinch. The circumstances surrounding the splinching have always been uncertain. The housekeeper found the part of his body that lay there in his study, half a foot from his desk. Bernadette gave her the next month off, with pay, to recover from the incident, with a vow to never inform her of the details she had seen. The highest ranking maid temporarily takes over housekeeping duties.
1883 Juliette is off to Hogwarts.
1884 The Laughing Plague leaves the half-blood family untouched. The fires, however, temporarily render the doorway between Hogsmeade and London temporarily unusable. The damage is quickly repaired, but it is somewhat demoralizing. Nicolette is off to Hogwarts.
1887 Hogwarts decides to ban half-breeds from its grounds. Bernadette finds this unsettling — half-breeds did not, after all, choose to be such. Really, nor did their non-human parent, especially in the case of vampirism, which is forced upon the subject. She suggests to her parents that they begin offering a discounted rate for half-breeds, who otherwise might be turned away from such a fine establishment, as a charitable cause, and somehow, they accept the idea! The rates are added permanently, advertised by word of mouth through Bernadette’s house staff.
1889 Tristan Delaroche is surprisingly old, for a muggle, when he finally passes on. Peacefully, at least, in his sleep, in February. Bernadette observes mourning as she must.
1890 Some might think it stressful. To come out of mourning and dive into work, into designing her eldest daughter’s debut gown. But it is surprisingly natural for Bernadette, who takes to the hard work surprisingly well.

Notes
- Bernadette speaks both English and French in perfect fluency.
- Amortentia conveys the fragrances of fine scotch and berry cobbler; fragrances that never fail to remind her of her late husband.
- Bernadette’s boggart takes the form of three ladies, their fashions shifting with each appearance, claiming her designs to be out-of-date and poor in taste.
- She has never cast a Patronus.
- She plays the cello.
