August Corner, Father [1839-1880]Appearance:
Agatha Corner (née —), Mother [1840-1880]
Audrey Corner, Sister [1864]
The de-facto mother in the Corner household. She secured her OWLs a month before her parents' passing, allowing her to pursue a Ministry job to keep the family afloat. Although she loves her sisters dearly, Audrey lack patience, especially for carelessness.
Helena Corner, Sister [1868]
Despite having only a second-year education, Helena has weaseled her way into a position as potioneer's apprentice. Her fiery and driven nature is in stark contrast to Jane's despite their closeness.
Viola Corner, Sister [1871]
Her idealistic nature has made her something of a flight risk—and the caught of Audrey's late-night headaches. Her sisters were unable to find the funds to send her to Hogwarts her first year, but that never stopped Viola from seeking out magical experiences.
Daisy Corner, Sister [1877]
Only three when her parents died, Daisy became a difficult child to manage. The need for attention has turned her into somewhat of a people-pleaser, which has led her to earn the high marks required to keep her on the academic scholarship each year.
Sweet-faced and always smiling, Jane might almost be pretty if not for her plain style and her uncanny ability to blend into a crowd. She stands at an unimpressive five feet, two inches tall and has never been able to boast of very "womanly" curves. Her medium brown hair is often braided and pinned to her head in a tight bun, but by midday is often frizzy and struggling to stay in place.History:
Her most noticeable feature is her dark blue eyes and full brows, which provide some much-needed structure to her round face. She dresses modestly and does not pay mind to fashion trends. Her dresses are hand-sewn and her shoes worn. She is right-handed.
1867 | Jane is born the second daughter to August and Agatha Corner.Personality:
1868 | Helena is born. Though less than a year apart, it becomes clear early on that the sisters do not like to be separated.
1871 | Viola's birth coincides with Audrey's first sign of magic. Frightened by the screams of her mother in the midst of childbirth, seven-year-old Audrey's begins to lose all of the color from her face, then her hair, and even from the blue of her eyes.
1872 | Jane's own first sign of magic makes an appearance. After a boy in the streets steals the knut she earned by helping a neighbor with chores, she grows uncharacteristically angry. After chasing the boy for a minute, she stops and lets out a yell that seems to knock the boy to the ground—and sends the knut rolling in her direction until it lands at her feet.
1875 | Audrey goes off to Hogwarts, leaving Jane to play the role of a second mother while her mother and father work. She takes to the role with ease after years of helping Audrey tend to mealtime, bathing their younger siblings, and helping with laundry.
1878 | Jane goes off to Hogwarts and is predictably sorted into Hufflepuff. Knowing that her parents paid the price to purchase her supplies and send her to school, she dutifully studies for her courses and manages most E's and A's with some O's. Her favorite classes are Charms and Potions, and her least favorites are Transfiguration and Defence Against the Dark Arts.
1879 | The Corner family moves into a small home in the Slums of Hogsmeade. Jane begins her second year, this time accompanied by her younger sister Helena. With the except of Transfiguration, which she struggles to maintain an A in, Jane does well in all of her classes.
1880 | Audrey secures her OWLs and leaves Hogwarts, eyeing a position at the Ministry. An illness sweeps through the household. Papa is the first to catch it, then Mother, then Audrey, then Daisy. Audrey recovers quickly, and for a few days it seems as though everyone will follow in her footsteps, but then Papa dies suddenly overnight. Mother follows the day after, leaving the sisters to mourn their parents while nurturing the then three-year-old Daisy back to health. Everything changes overnight: Jane and Helena leave Hogwarts while Audrey scrambles to bring in enough money to pay rent. Daisy recovers, but struggles to cope with the sudden loss of attention. Jane sells her wand and finds a position as a shop sweeper—not a lucrative position, but the best-suited one for a girl her age she could find.
1881 | Audrey secures a position in the Ministry after a year-long internship, allowing the family of five a bit more financial freedom than they had the previous year. With Jane and Helena also working (albeit in lesser-paying positions) the Corner girls no longer have to worry about being able to pay their bills each month.
1882 | After a summer illness causes the Corner girls to use their small savings to pay for their missed time at work, they find themselves unable to afford the necessary supplies to send Viola to Hogwarts. Naturally, Viola does not take well to the decision and swears she can collect the supplies herself, but it's no use; September first comes and goes, and Viola remains at home.
1885 | Jane is promoted from shop sweeper to full-time shop employee at a small hat shop on the edge of High Street. Audrey's savings and Jane, Helena, and Viola's income allows for the girls to move into a small but nicer home in Pennyworth.
1888 | The generosity of a charity allows for Daisy to attend her first year at Hogwarts. The usually combative and clingy Daisy does surprisingly well at school, earning high marks during the first term. By the end of the year she earns the grades necessary to continue her education on an academic scholarship. While happy for her sister, Viola is still bitter at her own missed opportunity, so Audrey takes it upon herself to purchase her younger sister a secondhand wand and begin teaching her basic magic. Ever rooted in her ways, Jane passes on the opportunity to attend lessons in favor of the muggle way she's grown so used to.
1889 | Jane declines an offer of marriage from a famer's son, not because she saw herself as too good for him, but because Jane had never before considered herself a candidate for marriage. Her sisters balk at her decision, claiming she might have passed up her one good chance for stability and happiness, yet Jane struggles to picture herself as the object of a man's affection.
1890 | After the owner of the hat shop passes suddenly, the business goes under and Jane finds herself in need of new work. She looks to Honeyduke's Sweet Shop, one of the more popular businesses in Hogsmeade and one that just so happens to be hiring.
