Appearance:

Athletic in build, broad in the shoulder and relatively tall at 5’10”, Emmett would be imposing if he didn’t radiate Golden Retriever energy. With thick, rich brown hair coiffed out of his face and green eyes that have a little ring of blue, he is conventionally handsome, though doesn’t typically play into it. His jaw is strong and sometimes covered in a neatly trimmed beard, depending on his mood. There is a goofy, boyish charm to him that shows in everything from his smile to his easy stance. Emmett carries himself with an air of approachability. His laugh lights up his whole face and his expressions are pretty easy to read.

Emmett dresses typically of his station and occupation, though prefers suits to robes and can often be found in blues, greens and greys, pending his mood. When at ease he tends to lose the jacket and roll up his sleeves. He is right-handed for wand work and writing.

History:

1865 A Spare Heir	Emmett Hayes joins brother Eamon and is a loud, mostly giggly babe.
1866-1876 Childhood	Brothers are added at expected intervals until Eamon heads off to Hogwarts in 1874. It is in between Eamon’s departure and Emmett’s that Ember is born in the autumn of 1875. They live a full childhood, typical of an upper class household with a nanny, governess, lessons and laughter. It is obvious that his parents are smitten with one another and Emmett grows up knowing the value of a true partner in life. He is athletic in nature, spending as much time as he can outdoors with riding, hunting and flying.
1876-1883 Hogwarts	Emmett is surprisingly sorted into Ravenclaw, (right after his new best friend Gregory) though he does suppose he is organized, somewhat practical and enjoys learning, though more recreationally than on purpose. Maybe it fits. His education is largely marked by the normal follies and triumphs of boarding school. He and Greg get into harmless mischief here and there, but nothing more than a detention’s worth of trouble. Most notably he starts quidditch as a chaser in his third year (1878-79) and continues to finish out through there.
1883 Travel	Professional quidditch is not in the cards, but Emmett is afforded a year abroad to get his youthful “exuberance” out. This sort of continues upon his return, but really he’s too much of a romantic to be considered rakish.
1884 Internship	Though he cannot play, Emmett wants to stay connected to the sport and starts his internship in Magical Games and Sports. Tragedy strikes when his father dies of the Laughing Plague and the whole family is driven into mourning. It's a rough year.
1885-1892 Ministry Life	Emmett finds himself somewhat at home in the ministry. He is affable, works well with a team and enjoys the faster pace of the Games and Sports department.
1892 Promotion	After putting in his dues at the regular departmental level, Emmett is promoted to Quidditch League Director. This suits him well; he gets to work in the sport, he networks like a pro and his practical, organized nature helps him excel.
Presently Adulting	As he nears thirty, Emmett is seriously starting to think about settling down and thus the new Season is upon him and he intends to take it seriously.

Personality:

APPROACHABLE | GOOFY | PRACTICAL | OPEN-MINDED
Emmett does embody the nature of a Golden Retriever in the best of meanings. Loyal and friendly, he got out his mischief in his youth, spending his time with his best mate doing typical boy things, especially at Hogwarts. Age and experience have tempered those more boyish traits into a more level-headed, organized adult. That isn’t to say he doesn’t enjoy a night out with his mates every once in a while, but it is all about balance. Emmett is dedicated to his work and his family, and is a loyal friend. Generally affable, Em casts a wide net of acquaintances, but only keeps a close, tight circle of good friends that he would do anything for. A romantic at heart, he is actively looking for a good match this season, something to emulate the marriage of his parents, preferably.
