Appearance: At just over one and a half meters, Ann takes great pride in her appearance by making the most of what she has, usually preferring more simple, elegant attire with muted colors to suit her slim yet curvy figure; a trait carried over by her life as a working-class member of society to compliment her mahogany brown hair and hazel eyes.
She is left-handed with both quill & wand alike, and her tastes are communicated by the sleek, elegant design of her Alder-wood wand and silver jewelry pieces.
History: Born on April 3rd, 1862 at a terraced family home in the suburbs of Manchester to her muggle tradesman father and a lady’s maid witch. With their identities as wizard-folk kept as a closely guarded secret by the family, Ann’s parents~ William and Mary, worked hard to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, a task they consistently succeeded at despite many hardships such as food shortages and the need to move homes several times.
As expected, at the age of eleven she had received her letter of admission to Hogwarts and was subsequently sorted into Hufflepuff. While there she excelled in subjects such as charms, herbology and divination while she was found lacking in subjects such as dueling and flying, most likely as a result of her hesitance to cause harm and her dislike of heights.
In her fifth and final year, she had achieved decent grades in her OWLS and soon left the school to take up an apprenticeship at Ollivanders in Hogsmeade, a position which she received out of luck and her open fascination regarding wandlore as she window shopped for wands too often and meandered through forests searching for bowtruckles to identify wand-wood for leisure~ a good excuse for rambling through the countryside as she consequently beat a number of other candidates out of the spot.
Throughout her twenties she threw herself at her work, eager and keen to become a recognised and reliable wandmaker to make enough money to support her family, though this meant that she often neglected her romantic life, usually by unintentionally avoiding suitors, much to the dismay of society. Years went by until she met Silas, a mysterious man from the Americas who she met by happenstance; the pair courted for months before they were officially engaged and she was married at the age of 27.
Now, she has been married to Silas for three years, a move that elevated Ann’s social class as the pair moved to Bartonburg, Hogsmeade, living on their combined wages and Silas’ family allowance. Although she had changed social class, she continued with her career as a wandmaker having completed just over a decade of training, though her priorities soon shifted from her career to her family.
Personality: Friendly, social and approachable, Ann will happily strike up conversation or offer polite smiles in passing. Though she is a working-class lady at heart, she has no qualms acting the part of her new social class and has familiarized herself with the etiquette and niceties as required.
Otherwise, Ann is particularly non-confrontational and will often resort to polite, private discussions or passive-aggressive behavior. As such, she isn’t a strong duellist as she dislikes the idea of harming people and will hesitate upon conflict~ a moral that she stands by vehemently unless absolutely necessary or in defense of her family.
Her unwavering optimism to see the best in everybody and to see the best situation in everything can often be regarded as contagious, though it occasionally drains her metaphorical social battery after a busy day, rendering her quiet and untalkative.
Other: There is a fourteen year age gap between Ann and her brother, Peter~ currently a fifth year Gryffindor at Hogwarts. Ann’s parents now reside in Irvingly as of 1883, following the mass migration to Hogsmeade in 1877.
Sample Roleplay Post: As dawn rolled in, the crisp winter air snapped at those who dared to venture outdoors, the golden rays of the sun piercing every known nook and cranny as homes and shops lit up with the morning sunshine. A fresh layer of morning mist covered the high street, enveloping the wrapped-up wizard-folk trying to stay warm as they headed to work or to complete their errands.
Ollivanders was no exception, the shop-floor had its usual chill after sitting dormant overnight; reaching into her pocket with her gloved hand, she pulled out her sleek Alder wand before pointing it towards the fireplace and nonverbally casting incendio to light the fire and bring some warmth into the shop.
As moments passed, the shop’s candles were now lit, accompanying the sunlight as it illuminated the building and Ann had finally taken off her gloves and coat in response to the warming room, the log books brought to the front counter and the doors unlocked and ready for business.
Taking a deep breath she pondered when the arrival of Mr. Ollivander would occur as she began moving boxes of wand materials from the backroom into the shop-front for display, organizing them until interrupted by a customer.
