Appearance:
Deportment | Xav hums under his breath when he'd focused, often without knowing it. He slouches more often than not and by default his gaze falls somewhere between folks' waists and the ground.
Fashion | Xavier doesn't know what fashion is; he leaves the house dressed, though does not always remain so throughout the day as he has a tendency to loosen ties and unbutton shirt cuffs throughout the day when he needs to focus. The degree that his clothing is disheveled is a good tell of how mentally taxing his work has kept him.
Scent | Hibiscus
Face Claim | Himesh Patel
Childhood 1859 — 1870 | Xav is born and is neither the first nor last child (details TBD). He is easily distracted, particularly during lessons, and prone to dangerous stunts for which he tends to survive miraculously unscathed. |
Hogwarts 1870 — 1875 | Xavier attends Hogwarts were he is a middling student, tempering enthusiasm for anything he doesn't understand with poor discipline when it comes to anything academic. By the time he's reached third year he has already begun to dream of being a cursebreaker, exploring ruins and tombs to uncover ancient secrets. He convinces his parents of his plan to leave school after OWLs to expedite his apprenticeship and get into the field faster. |
Cursebreaking 1875 — 1879 | Xav joins Gringotts as an apprentice cursebreaker, and after two years as an apprentice is promoted in due course. Over the first two years of his career as a cursebreaker he distinguishes himself by his hesitation to actually break curses unless absolutely necessary, which puts the mission and in some cases his own safety at risk. When the pattern becomes undeniable, he is fired from the cursebreaking team and spends the remaining months of the year uncertainly hanging around his parent's house, while their inquiries about what he intends to do grow increasingly common. Xavier is hesitant to commit to any career that does not involve traveilng and being exposed to new adventures and mysteries, but without OWLs... beggars can't be choosers. |
"Ludicrous" 1880 — 1887 | After being entreated to apply himself at the Ministry, Xav eventually lands in Ludicrous Patents as a patent clerk. This does not satisfy his desire to make his way through abandoned tombs, but does at least put him in contact with interesting objects from time to time. He tries to befriend inventors and maintains connections with cursebreakers from his previous career, and lets it be known that he is interested in the obscure (and possibly cursed) so that people will start giving him odd artifacts as birthday and Christmas presents. Unfortunately after several years of this, his collection grow to the point where his parents are not entirely comfortable with him staying on in the house. Xav refuses to "rehome" any of his artifacts, so a compromise is reached in which Xav's father loans him a little money to put towards the purchase of some property. This still likely wouldn't be enough to buy a standalone house, but (again with the help of his parents), Xavier's second-cousin is press-ganged into purchasing the other half of a townhome in Cambridge. |
Home Sweet Home 1887 — 1892 | Living alone (ish, with his cousin Ilyas in the other half of the house) actually suits Xav well; he creates and subsequently expands a basement below the home for his growing collection of oddities and cursed objects. He also takes to traveling twice a year to "sightsee" and... expand his collection. Unfortunately, he isn't quite reclusive enough for no one to have caught wind of his collection (especially when it's the only thing he particularly wants to talk about), and word gets around to a few recent graduates in 1890 who break into the house on a dare. Even more unfortunately, this appears to be in the process of becoming a tradition. |
