While there is little proof of her family’s rumored criminal background, she is most certianly a bastard. Her mother never married and she'd never had anyone claim her - she doesn't even know who he is. She isn’t even sure her father is the same as Jackdaw’s. Just as well, she doesn’t act quite like a lady should and is known to not care about how she should act.Residence: Windkirk Manor, Portree, the Isle of Skye, Scotland
Quite literally a manor, the Umbernauld family has resided here for centuries. It is far above their means and they weren’t the original owner of the estate that is for sure. She isn’t really sure who was, but they live there now.Hogwarts House: unknown

Small and light on her feet, she prefers to use her brains and speed or strength any day. Still young, she has hints of baby fat left to her face and has not yet developed any form of curves to her body and won’t yet for a few years. She stands a bit short for her age at four foot two, though she still has some growing to do. Her hair falls in tight, dark brown almost black ringlets that she keeps tucked back into a bun or braids outside the house, but allows it to be unbound at home. Her eyes are relatively narrow and just as dark as her hair in color, if not a bit darker. She is thin, but not thin enough to suggest being undernourished. Food was never short on the table.History:
Her clothes are well kept and in muted colors. She tends to care little about her appearance and prefers function over aesthetics at this age. While some of her clothes were tailor to her, some are hand me downs from when her mother and aunt were younger. She was not raised to care how others view her and as such, she is oblivious to fashion.
She is right-handed with both writing and spell work, though she is just as capable as using her left hand if needed.
In the early morning September 11, 1878, Linnet was born the first child of a single mother in the working class. Not too much of an odd sight but still not quite acceptable. Bastard is a label she will never be able to run from. She knows nothing of her father and likely never will, but that is okay, she is born into a large family and between her great-grandfather, her uncles, her grandmothers, aunt, and mother, she wants for absolutely no attention. A younger brother, named Jackdaw - her mother kept up her great grandparents’ naming theme - was born within a year. Are they full siblings or half, no one but Sparrow may ever know, not that it ever bothers her growing up. She wouldn’t treat Jackdaw any different if they were or weren’t from the same father.Personality:
She proves herself quick with wit very fast and soaks in hard and soft facts like a sponge. Social sciences prove to be her favorite and she has a knack for watching people and understanding how they tick - and how to use that knowledge for her favor. As a child, this shows in how she morphs her personality depending on which relative is occupying her time then, she quickly falls into a mannerism that best suits how to get what she wants with that particular person. It isn’t long before she starts trying to act like a mini-adult herself, mimicking the behaviors of her older relatives, especially after her great-grandmother takes her under her wing and starts to teach her all she knows. From Rosefinch she learns the basics of reading and spelling and a basic concept of arithmancy. Most of what Rosefinch teaches her is far more applicable to the streets and a bit less moral - lock picking, sleight of hand, all sorts of get into trouble goodies.
While her brother establishes himself nimble with his fingers, able to snatch purses with a swiftness most adults could envy, her talents lay behind the scenes and makes herself known when she thinks a plan is a bad one. In fact this is her first sign of magic, silencing her relatives when she got just so angry they wouldn't listen to her. Still, her relatives make sure she is learning how to handle herself with a blade, even when she proves not to be such a natural at the more physical aspect of their trade. Just as well, she is made to shadow some of her uncles and Aunt Owl throughout the years as she gets older. Her mother shows her how to slip things right under someone's nose - or even how to have them just give it to you. Shrike shows her the basics of tracking - oddly enough, this is the one few physical aspects she seems to be good at and she finds it quite fun (like solving a puzzle). Peregrine and Swift teach her how to watch people - Peregrine passively and Swift actively. While Owl and Redshank taught her to fight and how to get out of a situation with a man if she ever needed to. Firecrest and Goldcrest are two in the same, when she was younger, she did think they were the same. Of course, she realized this was not the case as she got older but none the less the twins were close. Once or twice she was allowed to shadow a heist with Jackdaw alongside her but watching them only confirms that she’d rather stay in the shadows where she can use her brains rather than her brawn.
What seems to be a perfect blueprint falls short in the early days of 1890, when her Uncle Goldcrest is killed at the hands of the subject of his heist. It is not an easy death, for the target ended up being a wizard adept at the cruciatus curse who after torturing her uncle, left him to die in the moorside. His death is an even harsher awakening, their life as highwaymen is not one with a good ending in sight. It was under her own suggestion that they lay down their crimes and reform to survive. They are already rich, they do not need to keep putting themselves at risk. The only bright light to this reformation is now, as law-abiding citizens, her and Jackdaw are to be attending Hogwarts this fall. Jackdaw is not thrilled, but she is. It will be her tribute to Goldcrest. She will make sure none of them fall. And if she happens to rub shoulders with the rich, well she made no promises to put an end to her scheming. She might not be outright robbing them - though a few little nick nacks here and there might still disappear (years of habit is hard to set aside so quickly) - she is still making use of them to thrive.

At first glance, Nettie is bright - a sponge eager to learn. Any knowledge she can receive, she will happily take. There is never quite enough. Always more more more. Just as well, she is charming. Words come easily to her and she has a knack for knowing just what to say in every circumstance. Always a joke to tell or some kind of uplifting speech to give. She makes friends easily and is loyal to a fault. She would do anything for those she loves. She worries for her brother constantly, now more than ever. And even though she is only twelve, she feels responsible for ensuring her family is okay.
But like anyone else, she has her darker side, her not so pretty traits. She's manipulative. Always watching everyone, she relies on figuring how others tick and what motivates them - and how she can use it. She's ambitious, always striving to not just be her best but the best. She doesn't quite know when to stop. She pushes things too far and allows things to become all-consuming. And she'll do anything it takes to protect those she cares about - from pushing her family off a track they've been on longer than living memory to destroying something or someone if push comes to shove. She doesn't follow conventional morals that society deems she should follow leading her to seem amoral and ruthless when pushed too far.
She's intelligent but she is a bit of a mess. Thankfully many of her negative traits only come out when she is pushed too far or feels threatened. Typically on a day to day basis, she is quite pleasant and her negative traits are kept to an appropriate level where they are not overwhelming.
