Appearance:
General ❧ Willa's most memorable feature is generally her hair; wild brunette curls that, in spite of her best efforts to tame it, always looks haphazard. This is especially true after any sign of rain (good thing it never rains in London, right?) She has brown eyes and facial features that don't do her many favors when it comes to traditional beauty: a nose that is slightly too narrow, a jawline slightly too boxy. She does have a decent figure: long legs (despite not being especially tall), slender waist, and enough of a bosom to fill out a dress.

Expressions ❧ With friends Willa can most often be described as conspiratorial; usually smiling but with a sense of hidden mischief. While she carries herself well with company rigid posture doesn't come naturally to her, and with those she's comfortable with her movements are liquid.

Fashion ❧ As a debutante Willa doesn't have much say; she gets whatever is in fashion that season, in pale shades. She has a preference for bright colors and is looking forward to being more adventurous and experimental with her wardrobe once she's married. She accessorizes well and is fond of many of the hats in her rather large collection (the better to smash down her unruly curls with — hats are one of her most steadfast allies in the social season).

Scent ❧ Floral but indistinct.

Face Claim ❧ Sarah Yarkin

History:
Childhood
1873
Willa is born to a comfortable upper class family, the fourth child and second daughter. Although in retrospect she is sure she must have spent some of these years in London, all of her memories from this time of her life are of various exploits in the English countryside. She is, particularly, a terror to every garden she comes across as no amount of scolding or lecturing can prevent young Willa from picking flowers to present as gifts to her mother and siblings, use as pretend wands, or weave into flower crowns.
1878
Shifting from the nursery to the schoolroom is quite an adjustment for Willa, who prefers wandering to reading. She is not an attentive student and her governess is soon counting down the days until she ships off to Hogwarts and is Someone Else's Problem.
Education
1884-89Willa goes to Hogwarts and is sorted into Gryffindor, where she makes fast friends both with girls in her house and other classmates. She has always been social and thrives much more in that regard than she does academically. When it comes to classwork she is often the one causing slight magical mishaps during practical spellwork. She's so chipper and good-natured about it that it's difficult for her professors to be too disappointed, though when she accidentally sends a boy in her year to the hospital wing in third year transfiguration he does take it a bit personally.
1889-91Able to choose her own classes for her final two years, Willa opts for a generally light courseload. Divination, Astrology, and Potions are her best subjects - less chance for errant wandwork, but also not too many textbooks. She has an ongoing interaction with A Boy which culminates in him kissing her, which is — fine, she supposes, but nothing to write home about. It's a rather chaste, brief kiss, though — she suspects maybe they were doing it wrong.
Debut
1891
Willa enters the social season, with little fanfare. She enjoys some parts of it more than others but is in no particular hurry to find a husband. It isn't until several months into the season when her (now married) older sister visits for tea that her perspective changes. She makes an errant comment about something someone else had said at a ball and that she hadn't understood — looking back now she hardly remembers what it was. Yvonne, entirely embarrassed but also sensing that Willa was painfully naive and it was her sisterly duty to ensure she was — at least not naive enough to accidentally get herself into trouble — explains some of what Willa might expect when she is married and no sooner. This also involves enough breadcrumbs that later that night, Willa discovers masturbation — and connecting these dots she finally understands why everyone is in such a rush to find a husband. Unfortunately the remainder of the season brings no especially good candidates, and Willa knows enough to suspect she needs not just a husband but the right husband — she has, after all, already been disappointingly kissed.
1892-93
The next two seasons Willa does look for love, but doesn't find it — at least, not exactly. She does find herself flirting with a few gentlemen who are imminently departing for various places — a tour, a business trip, something or other she still doesn't understand in America — and starts some voracious (but secretive — she doesn't want Mama to get too excited when these gentlemen might never return) letter correspondences. Writing letters to suitors is easier than actually talking to them, in some ways — they are less disappointing than in-person suitors when she only hears from them every few months and only hears what they choose to share. And she still isn't exactly in a hurry to marry, having by now developed quite the... personal nighttime skillset.
1894
This season brings the arrival of her younger sister to the social scene, which renews Willa's interest in finding a husband promptly — it seems a little unfair to Mama to have to worry about them both, and unfair to her sister to linger much longer on the marriage market and serve as a distraction. So: off to find a husband.

Personality:
SOCIABLE | ROMANTIC | ENTHUSIASTIC | BAD LIAR | IMPULSIVE | UNINHIBITED

Other:
  • The usual debutante accomplishments
  • Decent potioneer
