Appearance:
General | Charlotte stands a perfect five feet, three inches in height, with a wider stature than most in shoulder and hip. She is possessed of a full hourglass figure, enhanced by corset, and has never required padding to enhance her shape beyond a fashionable skirt structure. Her face is elegant, with brilliant blue eyes framed by richly dark brown hair. She is right-handed with wand and quill.

Expressions | Some compare her to a hawk with her sharp judgment, a most commonly seen expression upon the socialite now that all her children are grown. She is something of an open book, a rarity in high society.

Deportment | Self-important and elegant, like most upper class ladies. She carries her head high.

Fashion | As a socialite and a mother setting an example for her young daughter, Charlotte keeps abreast of the latest in both muggle and magical fashion. She favors darker jewel tones, but will dress in lighter shades when the occasion calls for it.

Accessories | Opulent and showy, the most exquisite part of her wardrobe. She favors complete parures over cobbled pieces, and many are French-made.

Scent | A rather fine perfume from a particular perfumier in France, not far from her finishing school.

Face Claim | Maria Doyle Kennedy
History:
Early Youth

1842After an easy labor, Harriette Hill gives birth to her second child, a second beautiful baby girl. She is named Charlotte Mathilda on the third month of her life, just as a precaution.
1845Finally, Harriette gives birth to a son, who is named Benjamin Hill at three months old, by his father.
1846 — 1853The Hill children grow, learn, and build their own personalities. Charlotte in particular delights in lessons in language and music, and often sneaks into the room to listen in on her brother’s history lessons, as her own are minimal.
Education

1853 — 1855It is finally Charlotte’s time to go to Hogwarts, Much to her surprise and delight, she finds herself sorted into the house of wit, bright Ravenclaw. Her first two years are spent enjoying her lessons and making friends with other well-to-do children.
1855 — 1858Charlotte’s OWL years are a time of mild stress, as the young student selects two electives — Divination and Ancient Studies. She thrives under the pressure, however, and even adds Music class and the Music club to her list of activities by her fourth year of schooling
1858 — 1860OWL scores arrive, and Charlotte settles on a schedule of six classes — Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Herbology, History of Magic, and Transfiguration, while maintaining Music class and Music club. Her mother is not entirely thrilled at her decisions, but she is promptly reminded that her daughter’s Hogwarts education is not her place to meddle. However, she informs Charlotte before her seventh year that she has secured a place for her at a Parisian finishing school, for one year, and like her elder sister, Charlotte will not be joining her peers at the Hogwarts Coming Out Ball.
1860 — 1861Charlotte is shipped off to Paris. For one year, the young woman is drilled in etiquette, dancing, music, art, and the finer points of fashion. As with Hogwarts, Charlotte largely thrives, though her lack of visual art skill is very apparent from the beginning, and her instructors largely give up on the subject with her.
Adulthood

1861To say Charlotte was a first-season success would be to put it quite mildly. At her debut, she met Simeon Quibbleberry — wealthy and pureblooded, but not considered particularly handsome among the social scene — and was very quickly swept off her feet. He, too, was a Ravenclaw graduate, and the pair delighted in intellectual conversation, much to Mrs. Hill’s chagrin. By November, Simeon proposes, and Charlotte accepts.
August 1862The pair marries on the third Wednesday of the month, before Simeon whisks Charlotte off for a honeymoon in lovely Morocco.
1863Henry Quibbleberry is born in just the perfect time to be a honeymoon baby.
1865William Quibbleberry is born.
1869Oscar Quibbleberry is born. He is not the healthiest babe at first, and though he survives, Charlotte frets over him.
1872David Quibbleberry is born.
1874Henry goes off to Hogwarts.
1875Louise Quibbleberry is born. Charlotte is thrilled to finally have a daughter upon whom to dote. She decides then and there, holding her newborn daughter, that she would not force her daughter to go off to finishing school after Hogwarts.
1876William goes off to Hogwarts.
1877A year of fret and fright for the family comes to pass. Though they do not interact with the muggle village near their home, they worry constantly that something frightening will happen to them, just because they are wizards and witches. Nothing comes to pass, however.
1880Oscar goes off to Hogwarts.
1881Henry graduates, taking a job in young Hogsmeade — and rather than force him to apparate or floo from Cheshire, the family takes up residence in a lovely house in Wellingtonshire. A house which Charlotte promptly makes her own.
1883William graduates. David goes to Hogwarts.
1886Louise goes to Hogwarts.
1887Oscar graduates.
1889Henry marries a lovely young lady, one of the crop of 1887 debutantes. She was one of Oscar’s house-mates at Hogwarts, which is how the pair was introduced. Fortune favors the girl, clearly, as marriage offers a step up from the middle class.
1890David graduates.
1891Henry’s wife gives birth to Charlotte’s first grandchild.
1893It is time for Louise’s debut, and Charlotte is anxious to see her only daughter married. She has been bringing her to parties more frequently than other mothers would, trying to assure Louise knows the right people to socialize with. Her preparations have seemingly been largely for naught, however, as Louise has already begun proving to be a disaster. Maybe she should have sent the girl to finishing school...

  • Determined to cast a corporeal patronus before graduating Hogwarts, and with extra tutoring from her professor, Charlotte was able to do so. Surprisingly, her patronus takes the form of an Asian elephant — a creature she has never seen outside of books and her casting of the spell.
  • Charlotte is multilingual, able to speak fluent French, Italian, and Spanish, with a partial grasp on German.
  • Amortentia, for Charlotte, is the smell of candied ginger, tobacco smoke, and mandarin oranges.
  • The Quibbleberry household has three pets, all of whom Charlotte picked out and named — two female wire-coated fox terriers from the same litter named Nemesis and Tyche, and a male Irish Setter named Orpheus. None of them are trained for hunting, a practice Charlotte actively disapproves of.
  • A talented woman, Charlotte plays the pianoforte, flute, and violin, as well as being a gifted mezzo soprano singer. Visual arts, however, are not her skill set, and though she tries to sketch every now and then, her products are not up to her high standards, and she will give up within twenty minutes.
