Appearance: Durant stands at a firm 5ft 7in and often turns his nose up at most people, giving him a pretentious air. He is a fairly agile man due to his schooling as an animagus though is by no means muscular.
He prefers tailored suits over any other attire. He refuses to wear wizards robes, claiming they are too restrictive.
Though he doesn't have a wand hand, having learned to use both his hands for spellcasting, he prefers his right hand.
History: 1831 | Durant is born as Awayo Gasana in the Kingdom of Rwanda to a family renowned for being loyalists to the Mwami; their dedication and use of magic helping with the expansion of the Kingdom as much as they can.
1838 | He displays his first sign of magic when he turns an owl-faced monkey into a swamp mouse. His parents are ecstatic and regale him with stories of Uagadou.
1842 | Awayo receives a Dream Messenger Token, waking up with it placed firmly in his hand and his place in Uagadou is secured. That September, he joins the school and is awe-inspired by the scenery of the Mountains of the Moon. He has no trouble fitting in and quickly learns the basics of magic.
1843 | His second year starts and Awayo begins learning about Self-Transfiguration, preferring that over much of the other curriculum. Wandless and non-verbal magic is taught with the majority of his spells being cast by a series of precise hand-movements.
1848 | Awayo is able to Self-Transfigure himself for the first time. His animal form becomes a Coyote.
1850 | Awayo graduates from Uagadou and begins helping his father with his jobs for the Mwami. His family has become extremely comfortable financially by this point, having earned favour with the Mwami.
1861 | Awayo meets a French lady named Colette and begins courting her before the year is out. His father is not happy with this and they get into an argument. Awayo feels he must leave or face the wrath of his father and joins Colette when she moves back to France. He changes his name to Durant Lécuyer to help him integrate better into the French society, picking up the language fairly quickly.
1864 | Durant and Colette become married.
1867 | The two move to England after his wife expresses their wish to have their children visit Hogwarts, and not Beauxbatons due to the way her family had reacted to her new husband. He also registers as an animagus (as per his wife's desire) though argues he shouldn't have needed to because most children in Africa are animagi.
1868 | Mireille and Odette are born. It is slightly disheartening as he wanted a male. However, this is overshadowed by the fact they are twins; he is worried they would bring misfortune to his family though he loves them nonetheless.
1869 | Their third child, Naeva, is born.
1874 | Colette's mother's house is almost burned down by Naeva when she shows her first sign of magic. Feeling bad, Durant offers to pay for any damages.
1875 | Odette shows her first sign of magic.
1877 | Colette dies from early labour due to an attack from Muggles in London. Durants only son dies in the arms of the wetnurse and angered that his wife and only heir to his family is now dead, Durant transfigures the wetnurse into a mouse and turns himself into a Coyote. He proceeds to eat the wetnurse though will later claim she quit due to the trauma of the newborn dying in her arms. They move to Hogsmeade, Scotland to be closer to a Wizarding community away from Muggles.
1880 | Odette and Mireille are both sorted into Slytherin and though Durant isn't fully aware of what that meant exactly, he was happy nonetheless. He passes his late wife’s wand down to Odette. In part because she is the first born and in part because he didn't like the idea of having to spend a lot of money on wands when he, himself, was more than capable of wandless magic so his children ought to be too.
1881 | Durant agrees for his children to take a second name - their mothers - though doesn't change them through legal channels. He is proud of the way they want to honour their mother. Naeva is sorted into Slytherin.
1883 | His late wife's sister uses an Unforgivable Curse on Mireille. Durant is beyond angry and gets in touch with his father. Following a few ominous letters, Durant publicly disowns his children's aunt and goes with her to France. Before they can get there, Durant changes their course and they go to Africa; presumably leaving her with his father to deal with.
1885 | He returns from his "trip" to Africa and only states that she was sent away due to using an unforgivable curse on his daughter.
1887 | Durant sends eldest children finishing school.
