It had been no surprise to see Mr. Greyback make the second round; he'd made mincemeat out of that Lestrange, but then, who couldn't? Tybalt was keen to see what the man could do up against a more formidable opponent. Who, in this case, was – "Mr. Scrimgeour, when you're ready!"

He saluted Julius, he was a good lad that Murdock liked well, he had a rough family, not that Julius, or even his troubled sister could really be blamed for that - that father of theirs had always had a bit of a reputation as a hot head - his death in Azkabhan hadn't exactly shocked Murdock, although he knew better than to rub the boys nose in that information.
When Julius was given the first position Murdock prepared to defend himself, and as the other cast he cast a shield charm.

Impartial as Tyb was here, he could admit he was honestly disappointed to see the badger spell nullified by the sturdy shield charm. Frankly, it wouldn't have mattered who was on the other end of that spell: anyone becoming a badger would have made his day.
"The first round to Mr. Greyback, who may begin the next," he declared.

He was pleased at his first round performance and even more pleased at having fended off Scrimgeour's attack - while he knew there was little chance of an interaction with his werewolfism - it was often better to be safer than sorry when it came to any sort of animal transfiguration.
Murdock didn't fancy risking any sort of permanent damage to another ministry man, so when instructed to begin the round he cast a charm that would cause his opponents ears to flap like humming bird wings and raise him from the ground.

For his next effort, Julius kept it simple with a shield charm. Greyback, unsurprisingly, knew what he was about, and the wizard did not have an overabundance of time to get creative with things.

Tybalt had feared that he was going to be denied the sight of another fun spell by another too-strong shield charm, but Greyback's spell broke through, and the sight of Scrimgeour's flapping ears was worth the price of admission. (In spirit, anyway; Tybalt was getting paid to be here.) At any rate, he tried not to grin too broadly as he awarded Mr. Greyback the duel.
