A copy of the above advert and the following note were sent to Idunn Fraser

Miss Fraser,
I would be delighted to see your application for the post above, if you were looking for something to fill your time this summer.

Otherwise, I hope the holiday is treating you well.

Kind Regards
Professor M. Valenduris.

Professor Valenduris,

I am grateful to be thought of for such an opportunity; to be viewed by a man of your expertise as even vaguely competent is, indeed, an honour. I intend, however, to return to my studies in September, and I would be loathe to terminate any such contract early. Should you need any assistance in grooming the selected candidate, however, I should be very happy to assist.

Sincerely,
I. Fraser

Miss Fraser,
I'm most pleased that we have not lost you to the glamorous life of the ton just yet. I would be delighted if you were available to assist the candidate in getting to know my lab and the way I work, mostly because I will be required to leave them unattended for the last month (mostly sitting around waiting to bottle it up).

You will of course be recompensed for your time at the rate above.

If not, I look forward to seeing you in September.

Kind Regards
Professor M. Valenduris.
