all I know since yesterday is everything has changed - Freya Selwyn - June 29, 2021
Early Morning, May 24th, 1891
My Darling A,
Please, my love, forgive my delay in announcing the news.
Late in the evening on Saturday, our daughter was born. A beautiful, healthy, hearty girl. What few strands of hair she has are the color of spun gold. Like Rapunzel or any other beauty in a fairytale. Her eyes are unmistakably blue, two tiny sapphires on a perfect round face. She's incredible, August. I thought I understood what it was to love a child, but there truly is nothing like it.
I should like to introduce you both as soon as we can find a time. I haven't a clue what to name her, either. We were so convinced she was to be a son that I abandoned all thoughts of what we would name a daughter. Thaddeus was to be his name and I can think of no adequate female equivalent.
"In case you ever foolishly forget, I am never not thinking of you."
Eternally Yours, F.

F,
I am delighted to hear of your health and, of course, of our daughter's. She sounds lovely. I cannot wait to meet her.
In terms of names — Natasha maybe, or Helene. Those are admittedly literary. If you're looking for something similar to Thaddeus, then perhaps Lorraine, or Julianne, or Margaret. I am not entirely sure.
I look forward to seeing you when you're able.
Yours,
A

My Darling A,
As soon as I read Julianne I knew it to fit her immediately. I had pondered Juliet for a time, however given her tragic end I didn't wish to associate our daughter with the play. Julianne Rhea Selwyn. Oh how I wish she could share your name.
Does next Thursday morning suit you? He has a meeting with his board that cannot be missed. We should have a few hours to enjoy one another's company at least.
Yours, F.
