Pride Month Movie Night Suggestion Box -
Cassius Lestrange - June 11, 2021
Hi pals! I'll be hosting a Pride Month Movie Night towards the end of the month (stay tuned for a poll on date!) I figured I'd make a thread where people can suggest queer movies they'd like to watch.
Guidelines: must have canon LGBT characters/relationships, my preference is to avoid super-triggering material, should be available on Netflix US, Hulu, HBO Max, or Disney+, as those are the platforms I can stream from. (TL;DR I don't have Prime.)
Anyways, we'll poll later, but suggest your movies here! <3
happy pride month xoxo

I haven't seen it and can't actually vouch for it in terms of quality or content but "Love, Simon" has been on my watch list forever. (Hulu)

Just throwing out a bunch of suggestions but I don't know whether they're available on your catalogues so some of these might just be wishful thinking.
- Rocketman. Great soundtrack, amazing performances, I may be in love with Taron Egerton and so should you be.
- Margarita, With a Straw. Guys this is such a good film that even if we don't do it for movie night I would urge you to watch it as it's fab. I did cry quite a lot through.
- Princess Cyd. Low-key but charming coming of age story of a girl finding love and chilling with her awkward aunt.
- Pride. 100% sure most of us have already seen this but it deserves infinite rewatches even if the wlw do get a bit ignored.
- Portrait of a Lady on Fire. *flails amidst the beautiful angst*
- Summerland. I love you Gugu Mbatha-Raw and because she has excellent taste so does Gemma Arterton.
- The Girl King. Period drama gays? Check. Intense longing? Check. Costume porn? Check.
- The World to Come. I haven't actually seen this yet but it has Princess Margaret and Tina Goldstein so it can't be that bad.
- Wild Night With Emily. I didn't know how much I needed Molly Shannon playing a queer icon until I saw this film.
- Professor Marston and the Wonder Women. A throuple in the 1930s invent Wonder Woman and it's amazing and everyone is so hot.
I have others but by and large these are the least troublesome ones! The others have a lot more sex/violence/MINDBENDING HORROR and/or Sarah Paulson which is basically all of the above!
Also I am utterly unsurprised that none of these are on Disney+.

- Anchor and Hope which is a gorgeous film in which Oona Chaplin and Natalia Tena live on a canal boat and try to have a baby.
