Noble Greengrass - April 26, 2021
March 26th, 1891 - Noble's Workshop Bartonburg
He was lucky that Alistair didn't have other plans tonight. Actually he was lucky that he'd managed to write a legible note with his left hand, because his dominant one appeared to be broken. He was lucky that the apparition wards on the workshop were already down from when Daffy had gotten here. Noble drank a glass of wine and perched on the stool behind the desk while he waited for Darrow to show up, and straightened his posture when Darrow came in.
"Thanks," he said, holding up his swollen hand, "I think I could've fixed it myself if it wasn't my wand-hand, but —" It was his wand hand, and Noble was stupid, and he was very much trying to repress the knowledge that Daff had left him.

Mister Greengrass was closer in age to Billy than to Alistair but that had not stopped Allie from coming into the mans acquaintance, mostly from mixed years assignments back in their school days. At least, enough so that Greengrass had sent a note to him to come help hoim. Alistair was generally law-abiding but this was not the first time he had done healing work for friendly acquaintances. He relished the experience and knew that sometimes people couldn't go to the hospital for reasons that were their own.
He apparated into the workshop with his healers bag in hand. "It's fine," the shy healer assured as he took a look at the mans hand. "What happened anyway?" He could not help his mild curiosity as he cast a quick ferula, waiting as the bandages were conjured and wrapped Greengrass's hand firmly into place, setting any broken bones back into place.

Noble's breath hissed out as the bones settled back into place. He resisted the urge to flex his hand when it was done, sure that would hurt again. "I hit it on the table at the wrong angle," Noble lied, because that was much less embarrassing than I punched a wall. "Is there — is there anything we can do so there aren't bandages on it tomorrow? My family will freak out."
He was not going to walk around Easter weekend with a bandaged hand, was the point. Clem and Verity would be all up in his business and Ford would be nervous again and he couldn't. He had to find a way to make it like it had never happened.

Alistair made a small noise of disapproval. Why did people hit things anyway? What did it do for them? Maybe he would punch a door or something once he got back home to see if it did anything for him. Except that might hurt and Alistair was very much against being in pain for any reason.
"Not if you want it to heal properly but I have an idea," he said, murmuring the disillusionment charm and tapping the bandages. The bandages didn't disappear but they did take on the color and texture of the skin they covered, giving the illusion that there was nothing there at all. Which was the point of the spell, he supposed.

Noble watched the bandages disappear into invisibility, and resisted the urge to flex his hand again. This was going to be a problem, if he had to keep resisting the desire to move his hand — and he had to try to be as normal as possible this weekend, but he should have thought about this before punching a wall if it was going to be a problem.
"Thanks," Noble said, glancing from his hand — the knuckles were still a little red — to Allie's face. "How long do I need them for?"

A couple of weeks with the use of this potion," he said, handing the potion recipe over. "Let me know if you feel I will need to do it for you." It felt really weird to be offering a potioneer potion help but the mans hand had taken a beating. "It will take longer than that for it to actually heal but you only need the bandages themselves for that short while. Enough to adequately set your bones back in place."

A couple of weeks, ugh. He never should have punched the wall. This was going to suck. "I think I can manage brewing it, but thanks," Noble replied, trying for his usual easygoing grin and — managing only an approximation of it. At least he had a good excuse with his hand broken. "What do I need to do after the bones are set?" Hopefully the answer was nothing, but he wasn't sure he'd be so lucky.

"Once your bones are set, keep taking the potion. Once you can move your fingers without there being an offshoot of pain, it means your all set," Alistair said as he started backing up his healer bag. "I would also advise you not to punch anything while it's in that delicate state but you probably figured that part out on your own."

Noble grimaced at the mention of punching. "Yeah," he said, "I should be able to avoid that." He should have been able to avoid punching the wall at all — it was childish and he wasn't childish, and it was a show of temper and he tried to avoid shows of temper — but it had happened in a flash of thoughtless action anyways.
But he was unlikely to be that upset again, anyways.
"Thanks," Noble said, not for the first time since Darrow had gotten here. It was the only thing to say, though.

"Glad to help you anytime. Though I would prefer people I know to not go around injuring themselves, of course," Alistair said with a small laugh. It gave him experience to patch them up though.

"Yeah," Noble said sheepishly, "I try to avoid it as best I can, too." It shouldn't happen again, though — it wasn't like Daffy could leave him twice.
