Ladies Duel: Miss E. Black vs. Miss A. Dantés -
Tybalt Kirke - March 5, 2021
7th March, 1891 — Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom
They were getting down to it now, and this seemed quite a formidable pair before even they'd begun.
(And if they didn't know the rules inside out by now, they didn't have a brain.) "Miss Black to start!" Tybalt declared, without further ado.

Elladora had a vague recollection of seeing Miss Dantés about town but as she was a firm believer that no one was interesting until they were thirty she couldn't say she knew her well. Still, she had come this far so was clearly no ingenue and Elladora afforded her a respectful nod of the head before casting a charm to create an iron maiden around the girl to immobilise her casting ability - without spikes of course.

Addie had heard things about Miss Black that had led her to believe that they might, under other circumstances, have made decent friends. She seemed the sort of capable woman that was too often overlooked and it was not a mistake Addie intended to make.
In the defence position she tried an old trick of Ramdas, to conjure a plethora of birds between her and her attacker to form a wall swooping towards Miss Black - these black craven looking beasts were of no discernable genus but with a distinctly sinister aspect, their glowing red or pure white eyes, offering as much intimidation as shield.

If Miss Dantés had tried to retaliate, the spell had been stifled by the medieval-looking cage around her. It looked a little eerie, actually. Tyb didn't want to picture how one felt inside it - so he vanished the iron maiden before weighing in. "First point to Miss Black - Miss Dantés may cast next."

It was an interesting spell - one she would need to remember but it didn't change the fact that she was pissed off to have lost the round. Hiding her fury under an implacable mask she was given the offensive position.
She cast a nasty hex that would turn the other woman's dress into a writhing mass of spiders, with the possibility for both embarrassment and terror as the spiders would make a run for it, into the others hair and down her limbs in a frenzy to escape. Addie for her part was not afraid of such creatures, she kept several cages of them for various purposes but English women seemed particularly prone to hysteria when faced with the 8 legged creatures.

Pleased with herself, though admiring the younger woman's fortitude, Elladora cast a shield to bounce the spell back at its caster.

Tybalt had no idea what the hex was going to do, but when Miss Black's shield bounced it right back upon its caster, and he could only look on with his jaw hanging open as Miss Dantés' own dress became a mass of spiders that started fleeing from her form, leaving her a little... exposed. Bringing the duel to the swiftest conclusion he could so that Miss Dantés might recover her dignity, Tybalt said in a rush, "Miss Black is the winner!"
