Happy Wife = .....? -
Amelia Evans - February 14, 2021
In addition to me sometimes not knowing what to do with my married characters/socialites, I also have been in danger of having my married women deactivated, and reading
Soph's post immediately made me think of Bridgerton's Lady Danbury's party for married women for some reason.
SO....thoughts about there being a routine society wife gambling/games party à la Lady Danbury style on the board? Soph's comment made me think we should have more plottable things available for married women than just wives flitting from society event to society event - give us something a bit more gritty for them to get involved in.
If not the above, then just general networking social available for every married woman to partake in! Both options would open up to gossip, ostracizing, cliques, and all the fun stuff of Victorian Society life >D

We could incorporate that with ladies clubs as well! I'm super into that because in a way married women have more freedom than debutantes but debs are more appealing because of the ~romance prospects, but tbh cheating on your husband is still a thing ??♀️

HI! Yes, I do this! Please join me!
Ophelia
had a Lady Danbury party this month but she also founded the Phoenix Society, which is a collection of about ~20 married ladies who take turns hosting interesting outings. They're not focused on socializing so much because these ladies don't need to meet men anymore, they're focused on ~adventure. In the past they've hired Quincey Honeyduke to teach them to make chocolate, had hunting trips, taken sleigh rides around scenic locations, etc. Events happen about every two weeks (less frequently during the season when people are busy) and any of the members can invite a +1 as long as they're reputable.
(This is mostly a UC thing though occasionally MC women get invited as +1s)

You know I'm here for this xD
Perhaps we could make it an informal monthly thing? Like it's on the calendar so everyone knows when threads should take place but it's not something we have to make an event for per say? That way we can have a place for married ladies to interact that isn't a formal club setting where they can let their hair down a bit, develop rivalries, make new friends, set up their kids, etc.

Late 19th century women would box, and basically a lot of the things young men got away with married women could do! There were even 'grand tours' of wealthy women who would just take themselves off for decadent, hedonistic trips.
I've a whole book on it. It's why ginny would marry a cardboard box with googly eyes to get that kind of freedom.

Ooooh I would love more of this! Phoenix society standing monthly games nights/parties for married ladies, society members (NPC or otherwise) could maybe take turns hosting? Like a book club but so much better xD

Lynn question for the Phoenix Society - is Ophelia the only founder? Because I had the idea of a small/medium group of socialites founding a society and
all having equal stakes in the matter because I'd love for down the line for them to have issues of funding, donors, etc and board meetings that we could have our characters weigh in on!
I'd also love for them to at one point have a #MysteriousDonor who maaayybbbeee eventually ends up trying to blackmail some of them >.>
Also like MJ said, I'd love for them all to take turns hosting different events since it would comprise socialites of all new ages and Evalina is not the type of person to go to a chocolate-making event xD Also, any "new initiation" hazing ideas would be 100% welcome too >D Like when you've just married, you get invited to the Welcome Tea, etc.

It happened IC around when Minister Ross was elected because Ophelia was scandalized that Rose & Thistle let the female candidate for Minister with all the radical ideas be a member :P So it was her and all her friends. Calliope & November are the only ones still played but there were like half a dozen socialites that all went in on the initial thing together.
But yeah, the idea is they all take turns hosting and the theme/ whatever is decided by the hostess. Chocolate- making was mostly because Ophelia was trying to get Quin set up with her plus one :P

Awesome!! So in that case, I’ve got a few questions I’d love to get people’s thoughts on!
Do we want to have a few more ladies who were donors and on the board of the Phoenix Society?
In who’s hosting what, should we make a schedule of who wants to host what when, or would it be more of a “multiple ladies host multiple events each month” type of arrangement to keep it simple?
Do we also want to try and let more upper-middle class people join the society as well?
I’d also love more peoples thoughts on plot points like Mysterious Donor/blackmail/extortion etc cause why not have a little fun and throw their lives into chaos?

Adrestia Dantés - February 16, 2021
I have Adrestia, she has a major grudge against upper-class English society generally for turning it's back on her family, and she wants to ruin some (at the moment non-specific) well to do family. It would be great to have her blackmailing the phoenix society, while also being in. Threatening, or causing scandals to destabilise the social hierarchy - then being all shocked Pikachu face when shit goes down. She's been in England for about a year, so would be enough of a society fixture at this stage, more money than god, although not married so would have to be an eager beaver junior member.
There would be nothing to say that she had to be the only force for chaos.

Adrestia Dantés I think where it's exclusively a married lady thing, that might be a bit off the mark!
