Ladies Duel: Miss Z. Fisk vs. Miss L. Gore - Enoch Rosier - February 14, 2021

6th March, 1891 — Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom
That it should come to this. Arbitrating what would probably be a round of hair-pulling and other girlish pursuits between Fisk's irritating sister and a young lady who really ought to know better. He briefly summarised the rules, though he doubted they were listening, and bid Miss Fisk to begin with a bored wave.

RE: Ladies Duel: Miss Z. Fisk vs. Miss L. Gore - Zelda Darrow - February 14, 2021

This dueling competition was perhaps one of Zelda's favorite Roslyn projects.

Zelda curtsied to Miss Gore. Intending to stick to her strong suit of Transfiguration for at least the first round, she cast a spell with the intention of turning Miss Gore into a badger.

Libby didn’t know that she had ever seen a badger before moving to Britain and witnessing it on one of the Hogwarts house crests; she did not suppose she particularly wanted to be one, though, so she tried for a shield charm to stop the spell.

Enoch had to admit it was a fine bit of transfiguration though really Miss Gore's retaliating shield was so poor one might have as easily taken her out with a soap bubble. On the ground she snuffled indignantly and Enoch hoped this would teach the debutante her lesson when it came to duelling - Miss Fisk might be a tartar but at least she barely had a reputation to lose.

"Miss Fisk takes the first round," he announced as he returned Miss Gore to her proper state. "Miss Gore, if your nerves are settled then you may begin the next."

The general disorientation of that experience was certainly not going to help her chances going forward, never mind the indignity of it. Regardless of whether she was swiftly set to bow out of the competition, Libby affected a neutral expression, and this time tried for a straightforward Full Body-Bind.

The thing with badgers was that they were actually sort of cute, and Zelda had to try to keep her expression neutral lest she look too smirky about things. (It wasn't as if she had any problems with Miss Gore, after all!)

She cast a simple shield charm.

Enoch too had to hold back a chuckle as Miss Gore's spell - against his expectation - smashed through Miss Fisk's shield and encased her in bindings. Miss Fisk toppled to the floor and Enoch probably could have saved her before she did but opted to let nature take it's course.

"Miss Gore is back in the game." He stifled a smirk as he unbound Miss Fisk. "When you're quite ready you may begin the decider."

Zelda hadn't really expected the heiress to put up a fight, and while she didn't exactly enjoy experiencing a full body bind, Zelda had to respect it nonetheless. She supposed that she probably couldn't get away with transfiguring Miss Gore into another animal, and instead conjured Melofors in aims of encasing Miss Gore's head in a pumpkin.

No one was more surprised than Liberty when that had worked against the Ministry woman - but as shield charms had not thus far served either of them well, this time she cast Impedimenta instead, hoping Miss Fisk’s spellcasting would be slowed down enough to dodge.

Any brief spark of resilience that Miss Gore had shown was soo dissipated when her head turned into a gourd and her counter came out only as a spit of pumpkin innards.

Gross.

"Miss Fisk takes the duel."
