The Most Dangerous Game, Except without the Murder -
Emrys Selwyn - February 11, 2021
This is a not-terribly-polished idea that I had, come jump in and help me develop it into something fun.
Basic premise is that a group of disconnected rich men who are tired of betting on sports and races and things might decide it would be more fun to bet on a
person. They'd choose an inconsequential target (probably WC male), then have a period of time to gather information and make predictions. Some of them should totally send an undercover diviner to try and steal his tea leaves or find a way to read his palm, or something. They'd then place bets for certain events happening to the target during a certain window of time. They'd either have a spy close to the guy, or would make some magical intervention to watch him (have an animagus follow him around, use some sort of scrying thing if those exist? idk, we can figure it out).
Where I think this could get really fun is it a few of them tried to cheat a bit. Say they had a lot of money riding on him moving to a new house and he doesn't seem like he's going to do that... just light his house on fire without anyone catching you, no big deal, right? You had a bet that he would sleep with someone, hire some hookers to go flirt with him and see if you can push it over the edge.
The 'target' would be oblivious to all of this, at least at the beginning.
SO if you have an UC person who might reasonably 1) be interested in this and 2) be involved in weird underground betting circles, OR if you have a WC person you want to torment a little, OR you have someone else who might be paid to go undercover - shout it out.

I think this is probably too creepy for Fitz' moral compass (boo Fitzroy), but
Christopher Moony is always up for a bit of side hustle. He will not do anything illegal for obvious reasons, but can absolutely be hired to spy on a dude.
Alternatively he is a bit of a trainwreck and might be fun to bet on.

This seems like something
Valerian Macnair might be into???

Omg. This sounds exactly like the sort of thing that
Asha Bilton would have happen to him. I definitely nominate him for the WC tribute.
And apparently my Daniel muse is saying he'd be interesting in betting because this seems like something a Greek God would do when bored

I'm very into all of this. Any chance we could say Valerian & Daniel are friendly or at least passingly acquainted in the same loose gambling circles? I think saying he and Emrys are pals would be a bit of a stretch given the age difference.
I'd also love it to be Asha because then mishaps by befall Alfred just by virtue of him being colocated lol

If Bree is game, I'd probably say loosely acquainted. I'm pretty sure Daniel is more of an occasional gambler.

lol Trystan would also be game! And
Yassine Bensouda is probably searching out all the underground betting circles so if someone let him in on this he would likely find it funny too.
Not male but since she's on the ~less respectable side, thought I would throw
Leila Scott in as a WC option anyway!

Ooo yes to Yassine and hooray for the Selwyn brothers actually having something in common!
Apparently Emrys is very cool with the idea of mucking about in a poor man's life for sport but draws the line at women so? Leila is safe unless someone else wants to suggest it and pressure Emrys into going along with it.
