30th January, 1891 — Hogwarts Great Hall, Potion Brewing Competiont
“I hope you are not too tired yet,” Ari said, in greeting to the trio, “because we have one more potion to go to crown our OWL winner.” As he had been supervising the elder students earlier, this was as good as a blank slate for them all: this brew alone would be the judge of them.
“Are you ready?” He added with an encouraging grin, as they stood ready to begin. “Your last potion will be a Draught of Peace. Off you go.”

It was a complicated potion, but Idunn was quite certain she was up to the task. After all, hadn't she all but obliterated her competition in the previous rounds? Hadn't she spent her summer in a prestigious and edifying potions internship?
With utmost focus, the Ravenclaw worked her way through this final potion. The stakes might not have been high, per se, but to her pride, it was all that mattered.

Ned was somewhat surprised he had made it to the next round, but he was determined to do his best. This was a new group of competitors. Miss Fraser was certainly the most intimidating of the bunch. Her grasp of potions was certainly to be admired. Wildsmith was a bit of a wild card; it was never certain when he would truly apply himself or slack off.
Draught of the Living Dead was a difficult brew. It also contained sloth brain, which was one of those baffling ingredients he always wondered about who exactly decided it would be interesting to experiment with.
After stirring seven times, anticlockwise, he stepped back and waited patiently for the results.

Elon didn't expect to be one of the finalists. He had entered the competition go have a bit of fun - potions weren't something he was particularly passionate about. He had been lucky to be assigned potions he could brew well, and to have weaker opponents.
(Really? He was a finalist and Elijah wasn't?)
With an opponent like Miss Fraser, Elon didn't expect to make it far. She had a reputation when it came to potions. Then there was Mr. Moony, whom he didn't have much of an opinion on. He was one of Miss Dawson's friends, though. He kind of wanted to do better than him.
The potion they had been assigned was interesting at least, the sort he'd pay attention to in class.
He was the least elegant of the three when it came to his approach in brewing, and he finished last.

It all seemed to be going smoothly, and then Mr. Wildsmith’s potion exploded. Dear oh dear.
