NPC Careers -
Hermia Bonaccord - July 22, 2020
Should we claim careers for our relevant NPCs? I'm mostly asking for the likes of Hermia's dad. He's the French Ministry ambassador to the Britain. He would definitely host some official events for the Quidditch World Cup. With the understanding that NPCs wouldn't take precedent over a played character, should I post him to careers so people know the connect?

I'm not sure for unofficial jobs like those, but I know claiming one-off positions for NPCs is typically not permitted (i.e. you couldn't say your character's dad was head of a Ministry department, only a "upper-level Ministry official"). NPCs, with the exception of some inactive characters who have a long history on the board in a certain position, aren't usually listed on the occupations list, though (and even that might not be intentional :P).
Don't take my word for it, though :P

That makes sense! (Hence, foreign ambassador of little impact here)

Bree is correct! You can be vague, but for one-off slots (healers in charge, department heads, professors) they cannot be reserved for NPC characters. Slots with multiple open positions (healers, regular department positions at the ministry etc) can be stated as current, but still not listed on the occupations list!

There's no rule against creating events with NPC hosts, btw! I do it all the time ;) You wouldn't even have to give your NPC an official title or anything, just say "Hosted by so-and-so with support of the French Ministry" or similar and then people can use your event for their threads and networking.
