seeking: unethical librarian? - Cassius Lestrange - April 25, 2020

I perused lonely plots but didn't turn up anything -- SO! My next character, Peregrine Umbernauld, is a Recently Reformed Crime Doer against his will, and I am seeking a job for him. Ideally something bookish and clever; Peregrine's vibe is unethical librarian and he is a Rep 4 (ish) due to unconfirmed criminal connections/background. He has no formal education but is literate and knows a variety of like, basic-but-useful spells, if by 'useful' you mean 'hexes.'

This is his ad:
He is a sleuth, a shadow, an observer; and takes after his grandfather as a keeper of knowledge. Peregrine would make an illustrious bookkeeper or professor. Just not a very ethical one.

THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! Does your character need a secretary, bookkeeper, tutor (lol) or something else that requires brains but not necessarily a staunch background check? This would be relevantly recent, I cannot guarantee that Peregrine will not try to blackmail you, (this could be fun!) Alternatively maybe you hired him because of his low ethical bar?

Also he's hot if that helps lower any character standards.

Basically I am super flexible and could stick him in a bookshop but wanted to see what else I could turn up, ping me in this thread or skype me

Idk how Finn feels about it (Billie Farrow) but maybe he works for whizzard? I'm kinda curious about getting mel involved in not-so-great things (mildly, nothing serious idt) and if he's hot i can hurl <_<

I'm not so sure Zachariah would hire him. He does have to make sure his bookshop keeps a good reputation, and hiring a known criminal might make people nervous. (Especially if theft was in his background) I could, however, see Zach giving him a chance and hiring him for a small, odd job? (I'm not sure what at the moment, my brain is mush.) Or recommending him to Gordon whom he already discretely talks up to patrons who are looking for subjects he doesn't carry.

Sorry I didn’t clarify super well - the Umbernaulds are rumored to have connections to criminal activity but it’s not confirmed at all, he’s never been arrested or on-paper-connected so isn’t known. Smile

That said I’m super interested in research assistant type things for him, will be CML poking around if anyone has relevant things?
