In Response to Your Advertisement - Louisa Clearwater - April 23, 2020

18th January 1890

To Mr. Evander Darrow –

I hope this letter finds you in good health. I'm writing to you to inquire about the position you recently put in the Prophet for a governess for a recently acquired ward of yours.

If you have not already procured a governess already, I would like to put forth my candidacy. Attached you will please find a few letters of character from some of my former employers.

I look forward to hearing from you.

My best to you and your family
Miss Louisa Clearwater

Miss Clearwater,

I am most indebted to your letter of yesterday expressing interest in the position of governess. It is indeed still vacant — having taken the liberty of perusing your attached letters of character, I must say they are an impressive set of references. Presuming your continued interest in the post, I should be much obliged if you would be able to call on us at home tomorrow morning, where you might grant myself and my niece a short interview.

I hope this will be convenient to you.

Yours faithfully,
Evander Darrow

Mr. Darrow –

Thank you for your response. I am glad you found the word of my previous employers satisfactory to grant an interview in person. I would – of course – be happy to pay you and your niece a visit tomorrow morning. I shall call upon your residence at half past 8 if that should suit you and your niece.

I look forward to meeting the both of you.

Yours respectfully,
Miss Louisa Clearwater
