Quidditch Rosters Shuffle In Off Season
Wood Moves to Howlers, Darrow to Replace Him As Cannons Chaser

A month into the Quidditch off-season, several professional Quidditch players have seen themselves reassigned, and it now appears that the rosters have reached a more permanent balance. Barring any early season injuries or other bizarre twists of fate, these should be the last roster changes we see before the beginning of the season, with the next most likely coming following the Hogwarts graduation when some younger talent may be added to the second strings.

One surprising move came when Declan Wood, after only one first string season with the Chudley Cannons, was transferred to the Hogsmeade Howlers, where he will continue to play first string chaser. Some speculate that the rather early career move may have something to do with his notably poor performance during the championship match against Puddlemere United last month, though the Cannons' coach has been notably silent on the subject of the decision to transfer Wood.

Replacing him on the first string chaser team for the Chudley Cannons will be Miss Darrow, formerly of the Holyhead Harpies. Known as one of the Harpies more competent players, it seems likely that Miss Darrow made the move of her own volition, rather than having been offered by the Harpies. With talent apparently oozing out from the team in every direction, the coming season is looking just as bleak as the last for poor Holyhead. There is no word yet as to who will replace Miss Darrow on first string for the all-female Welsh team.

Another recent addition to the professional first string roster comes with the promotion of John Humphrey-Mavis to first-string keeper for the Chudley Cannons, following the anticipated retirement of Errol Cairdson this year. Although Cairdson's departure is hardly breaking news, the appointment of Humphrey-Mavis, who last year played second-string not for the Cannons but rather for the Appleby Arrows, has raised several eyebrows and cannot help but be seen as a deliberate snub to the Cannons' current second-string keeper.

Current league champions Puddlemere United plan to continue with the same team from last season, which is a marked departure from the team's normally volatile roster (due in large part to the demanding nature of their sponsor, Thom Pettigrew). Puddlemere's Coach offered merely this statement: "If it isn't broken, don't fix it."

Easter Celebration Announced
Vendors to Line Hogsmeade Streets

The Coalition for the Vendors of Magical Society announced that between the 28th of March and the 2nd of April, various members of their organization would be setting up shop in the streets of Hogsmeade selling magical, Easter-related memorabilia, food, toys. The coalition will kick off its event on Wednesday with the sale of its nationwide-famous greeting cards, this time specialized to fit the holiday.

After speaking with the spokesperson for the organization, Mr. Guthrie Gutter, he had this to say: “While we appreciate the support of the community for our vendors and our organization, we warn them to remain wary of non-affiliated vendors who may attempt to exploit the occasion to cause harm and otherwise misfortune to those willing to purchase their goods and services. After the inconveniences experienced earlier at the month at a non-affiliated event in Hogsmeade, the coalition has no desire to see any more distress come to our customers.”

The organization also asked us to remind any wishing to participate in the magical side of the holiday that all affiliated and approved vendors will be marked by a yellow stamp of a approval with the words “Coalition for the Vendors of Magical Society” printed in a circular pattern. The seals are resistant to magic and cannot under any circumstances be tampered with. Copies and otherwise fake stamps can be easily switched colors with a color-changing spell.
