Appearance: Standing at 5'4 in her stockinged feet Thistle is a pretty young woman with honey blonde hair and hazel eyes. Usually to be found with smudges of dirt on the sleeves of her otherwise neat robes. She usually dresses in colourful robes, though nothing quite as garish as her aunt and along with Astrild she has been roped into being a model for her aunt's attempts at creating outer garments so occasionally she is quite a bit more ostentatious. She has a curvy figure, especially around the bust, and though it tends towards slenderness at the moment she will almost definitely fill out later in life.

History

Early Years 1865-1870

Born the third of what will eventually be seven daughters Thistle is well-received by her parents and sisters. She is a mostly charming baby, disposed to naps and face-planting into food when particularly sleepy, and once she begins to toddle she spends the majority of her time playing with Amaryllis, Senna and her cousin Astrild. She acquires two more sisters during this time but they're far too small to be interesting and instead she prefers to roll around in the garden with her older sisters and cousins.

Magic Emerges 1870-1876

Two more sisters appear in the next five years, replacing Zinnia and Daffodil as being the least fun to play with. After her two older sisters head off to Hogwarts Thistle continues to mostly just create garden forts with Astrild, who by this point is her best friend in the whole wide world, though occasionally one of their mothers decides to teach them something and they get taken on expeditions to far flung places. Thistle displays magic for the first time during one such trip, levitating with excitement upon finding a rare orchid in the wild.

School Year One 1876-1877

Thistle is sorted into Hufflepuff without much fuss, happily following Astrild to the table. She settles in at Hogwarts with reasonable aplomb, excels at Herbology and Potions, but finds History of Magic a bit tricky. Names and dates are not her forte, but anything practical suits her down to the ground.

School Year Two 1877-1878

Much of the same. She begins to experience the monthly curse a little prematurely but it happens mostly without incident.

School Year Three 1878-1879

Thistle adds Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies to her classes. She is not as good at the former as she expected to be and considerably more interested in the latter than she anticipated.

School Year Four 1879-1880

Zinnia joins her at Hogwarts and Thistle experiences another dull but perfectly pleasant year. She begins to hit puberty and notices a few boys but no one really catches her interest for any length of time.

School Year Five 1880-1881

The school takes the curious decision to make Thistle a prefect. She doesn't especially want the honour and is exceptionally terrible at it. Her schoolwork suffers too, as anxiety at being useless takes over her entire life. Out of necessity she approaches her head of house, who she likes but finds intimidating, and through tears and stuttered speech explains the problem. As a direct result of this incident Thistle feels aggrieved that she didn't get to have a house matron during her time at school as the whole thing could have been avoided or at least dealt with earlier. Instead she loses weight, her confidence is knocked academically, and Thistle is left with a deep sense of inadequacy.

School Year Six 1881-1882

Without the prefect badge to weigh her down Thistle has a much happier year, though she remains embarrassed about the whole thing. Her schoolwork improves but with the rigours of the NEWT courses truly kicking in she never manages to have the steady above-average grades she enjoyed before. Her confidence takes a further blow at this, though she keeps it private, quite aware that word got out last years that she blubbed to Professor Darrow. In other news Daffodil joins her at Hogwarts!

School Year Seven 1882-1883

Her final year passes in a blur of barely recalled panic and revision, culminating in her final results being slightly lacklustre, with the exception of her old standbys Herbology and Potions, both of which she receives an O in. Oddly, she achieves an E in Muggle Studies, a feat she finds beguiling.

The Real World 1883-1886

Emerging from the world of Hogwarts is a bit of a jolt at first - it's been a long time since she's had nothing to do with her time and Thistle is a tad on-edge for a few months, waiting for the other shoe to drop. She finally gets to spend some proper time with her youngest two siblings and eventually she begins to settle, working in her mother's florists quite happily. Over the next few years Dahlia and Calla go off to school and Thistle dedicates herself to learning everything she can about the language of flowers and the particulars of cultivating certain blooms.

Family Business 1886-1890

Amaryllis gets married which leaves Senna and Thistle as their mother's right hands while the rest of the girls are still at school, leading her to grow closer with her second oldest sister than ever before. Senna even helps Thistle acquire the equipment she needs to build a small potions laboratory in her bedroom where Thistle begins to experiment with herb and fauna combinations, leading to several incidents of her nearly poisoning herself with the fumes. Towards the end of this period Astrild marries Eugene Scamander, a shockingly sudden development though Thistle knew her cousin was always rather sweet on him, and the two quickly have a son. A few months down the line however Astrild vanishes to Norway, leaving behind her little family and best friend.
