The Ministry of Magic released a statement late last night that the vampire known as Galina, has been released on grounds of false imprisonment. In February of 1889 Galina was arrested and imprisoned by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement for the murder of restauranteer Mr. Jean-Claude Baudelaire. At the time of her arrest the case was not closed leading some to suspect that the vampire in question had an accomplice. It now appears that the Ministry may not have been confident in the testimony that led to Galina’s arrest.

While the Ministry has not released further details on this prisoner release, Galina’s lawyer told the Daily Prophet: “I’m glad that the Ministry has finally acted to release my client, who has been wrongfully imprisoned on false, clearly anti-vampire allegations for months.” Mr. Echelon-Arnost said. He declined to comment as to whether his client would be seeking compensation from the Ministry for her imprisonment.

Despite the release of Galina the case into the death of Mr. Baudelaire remains quite open and with Galina’s release it seems as if it may have gone cold. Be assured, here at the Prophet we will not rest until we find the answers.
