Find Some Solid Ground - Arthur Pettigrew - February 28, 2020

Reuben Crouch Ophelia Devine
Feb. 28th, 1890

Ben,

Please confirm that you are still alive and that the Princess hasn't murdered you yet. That's the only sarcastic thing I'll say in this letter, I promise. Also checking to make sure that you weren't swallowed in the whole time thing.

Come home, I miss you, Scotland is boring without you. I won't pretend that the wife misses you but we'll say Gwenog does, sure.

ooc this is not art's usual font I just don't want to find it @ werk

Art,

Of course she hasn't murdered me. We're madly in love, or whatever. You know, like people are when they get married.

Time thing was weird but hasn't killed me. Mostly just inconvenient and I'm not sure if this is the right date anymore. Whatever.

I don't know when we'll be back. I'm sort of waiting for Aldous to tell me the coast is clear, or something, and he has a different definition of "clear" than you and I do, so. He hasn't said anything yet. My best guess would be sometime next month — but I still don't have a place to live firmed up yet and I doubt Dez would be thrilled if we set up in your spare room, so. Have to get that figured out first.

Ben,

Marriage: all fun and games until your wife has a baby on accident.

I mean, you're married now, it's not like they can send you to Canada again. Please don't go to Canada. For what it's worth I haven't heard anyone calling for your head on a stick.

Want me to look at houses to rent for you? I'll look at houses for you. That's how much I want you to come back, I barely even looked at my own house before I agreed to live here.

Art,

Yeah, accidental babies are no joke. I'd ask for recommendations on birth control, but I'd rather ask someone who didn't screw it up (joking!)

As encouraging as it is that no one is out in the streets publicly demanding my execution, Aldous shares an office with the bloke she was supposed to marry instead of me, so — he might be hearing differently. And doing what Aldous thinks is best is pretty key, at the moment, to not getting sent to Canada (or somewhere) again, so I'm going to stay put for now.

Might take you up on the house thing, though. Will let you know.

Art,

I can't fucking do this. It was stupid of me to think I could.

Currently contemplating faking my death so that I can go live somewhere and pretend I'm not married — would you visit me if I had an alias and lived in a hovel in Africa or something?

I know that seems melodramatic but I literally don't know how else to salvage the rest of my fucking life.

Ben,

Don't fake your death. What do you need? I'd visit you but I'd probably die without you, so we're going to fix this, all right.

Do you want me to come to Paris and help, either with whiskey or actual help?

RE: Find Some Solid Ground - Reuben Crouch - March 12, 2020

literally wrote this on the back of the letter Art sent him. Handwriting is a mess.
Art,

They've got plenty of whisky down here. I've been drinking all morning and this guy behind the bar says they're not goinng to run out so I should be set on that front mate.

Don't know what actual help you could bring me unless you have a pretty solid connection on a time turner and can get me back to before I fucked Melody Finch without, you knou, breaking time for everyone everywhere again.

Ben,

I don't have a time travel person unfortunately but you know I would break time for you if I had to.

What did she do to you?

Art,

She married me. Isn't that bad enough?

RE: Find Some Solid Ground - Arthur Pettigrew - March 17, 2020

Ben,

Yes, but I'm guessing there was something else, too.

Art,

Things are okay, I guess. Don't worry about me. I was overreacting. You know, like I do sometimes. We're... I guess we're okay. I guess we will be, anyway.

I'm coming back to England next week, just so you know. Aldous found a place for us to stay. He would probably prefer you didn't go to check it out for me. It might have other people living in it right now, I'm not sure. It's in Irvingly, but... well, I mean, I guess there are worse things. It'll be just a hop skip and a jump from your pitch. You can come have lunch at my house on your practice breaks.

Ben

Ben,

Irvingly can be fun, there's the casino, we can find things to do. Let me know when you're moved in and I'll come in on a break. I'm going to be at the pitch a lot next week, the first games for the national cup are the 31st and tryouts for the World Cup are the 7th.

Excited to see you soon, glad it wasn't like Canada.
