Your sister is iffy? So's my brother! - Aldous Crouch - February 23, 2020

Miss Virtue,

How startled I was to stumble upon your advertisement in Witch Weekly, for I did not think there were many in this world who could understand the stress placed upon one by a sibling's choices in life!

Please be assured that in me you could find a gentleman willing to look beyond initial perception, for I think that we all must show some compassion and willingness to discover the truth of a person.

In commiseration,
C.

The stress caused by a misguided sibling is something we are never able to escape, and it brings me great relief to know I am not the only one who struggles to come to terms with the choices they have burdened us with. I have always believed myself to be a woman who knows good character when she sees it, and I assure you that I can see your thoughtfulness even through the ink on your letter.

Tell me: if you could describe yourself, regardless of what descriptors may be given to you due to circumstances outside of your control, which three words would you use?

Sincerely,
Miss Virtue

Miss Virtue,

What an interesting question! I confess, I did need to think for some time upon my answers, but here they are:

Honourable
Reserved
Diplomatic

The first, I know, is rather the expected answer, for which I do apologize.

It is, I think, your turn to reveal the same of yourself.

Sincerely,
C.

C.,

Diplomatic is a peculiar descriptor! Might it be wrong of me to suggest that it may provide a hint to your identity? Nevertheless, it is a good quality in any man; I daresay it suggests an even temper and good head.

I am...

Optimistic.
Family-oriented.
Outgoing.

I am a debutante, and one enjoys social gatherings. Do you regularly attend society events, or does your reserved nature prevent your attendance?

Sincerely,
Miss Virtue

Miss Virtue,

Optimism is, I think, something of a unique trait. It is the privilege of the naive I think such a characteristic reveals a goodness in an individual's character, something that cannot be cultivated but which must be innate. We also appear to have a commonality: if you had not yet gleaned as much, I, too, consider myself to be quite family oriented.

I fear I have given away too much of myself, and so find myself hesitant to reveal any more.

Of course, I say as much in jest. Though I do not accept every invitation that I receive, I am no stranger to a rather wide array of functions and have a number of good friends who do not allow me to become unsocial. My diary tells me I am next to attend a luncheon hosted by Mrs. November Malfoy next week.

Sincerely,
C.
