Hogsmeade Womens Institute -

SOOO
For the non-UK/Irish amoung us
The women’s institute is a women’s only organisation in the UK/Ireland. It is a solidly middle class organisation!
It started in 1887, in Scotland! At this time it is
NOT a political organisation and is very inoffensive!
They meet once a month, and there is usually a talk/speaker on some sort of household/womanly skill - a member would usually volunteer to give it.
A big emphasis was placed on cooking for pleasure, as well as instructing staff (kitchen maids/housekeeper) on how to cook healthy foods.
The WI was known to hold markets where members sold jams, cakes, buns, crafts (sewing, quilting, painting etc), that sort of thing.
The WI would also usually be involved in running of village fetes which would feature
-vegetable growing competitions
-Baking competitions*
-Flower arranging/growing
-Crafting competitions
With the money raised usually going to a charitable community endeavour (fix the church roof, spruce up the bandstand, maintenance of the duck pond, etc)
*Great British baking competition is based on this aesthetic -cakes and buns presented on gingham table clothes in tents for judging
I’m going to suggest Hogsmeade get its own Women’s Institute and it run the Hogsmeade village fete during the summer, but also creating a middle class ladies social group in the meantime.
This would be an organisation that is meant for women who could not be financially or socially interested in joining one of the ladies clubs - socially, community minded ordinary women, of good reptuation.
UC or women doing the debutante thing would probably not be involved unless they wanted funny looks.
Any interest? Or any ladies interested in a thread of the members? Maybe a flower arranging demo given by the lovely Benevolence to start us off? A chance to gossip about all the valentines elopements and arrange some flowers!

Stella and Roslyn would both be interested in such a thing!

@"Naomi Hertz" may be interested once she is married and moves into Hogsmeade to be with her husband, though that might depend on how low one's reputation can be to be introduced.
@"Rosie Binns" would be interested, though she may have to go without her husband's knowledge as he would likely deem it beneath their supposed 'status'. Not that she shares these views.

I feel like it should most definitely be called the Witches Institute instead of Womens because #magic

Dionisia Fisk is trying to play a role, and I think she'd be tempted to tag along with Roslyn for the sole purpose of "fitting in" :P

I think Witches Institute is def a better name!
If someone wants to lead the chapter *cough*
Aldous Crouch Roslyn *cough* Shes the sort of person that would be elected to lead the chapter, almost as an act of brown nosing, just like how the queen leads the Sandringham chapter even though she isnt the target audience, or David Camerons wife was the head of a chapter because...clout.
@'acacia ruskin' and
Holly Scrimgeour
I'm not saying there is a hard and fast rule for joining, because I'm not sure there would be because they are technically an open organisation, but from knowledge of the current WI - they are cut throat AF and throw all kinds of shade, so while they might let in people with dodgy reps, they might be kind of bitchy and not particularly inclusive of people with middling reputations, but it would 100% be about who you know.
My first feeling is that Dionisia would probably be fine because she is friends with Roslyn who is the ministers wife and therefore a valuable member, while Naomi might get a harder time, and be more excluded even though she has a technically better reputation.

Absolutely count
Ailsa Fraser in, it's totally her thing and a great way to network the MC ladies!
I'm also very amused by the thought of Mama Scamander making Marlena and Helga go together as a bonding exercise
Holly Scrimgeour ??

That would be very accurate - i.e my mother is a member and dragged me to what are affectionaly referred to as 'stitch and bitch' sessions -crafting and gossip
Thread for everyone interested in a session

I would imagine it was an obsequious foisting - she might have demured but I'd guess lots of well dressed ladies in fine hats insisted that she was just the right lady to represent them

Tilda would not go, however, I could see
Cordelia Fawley being roped into it by her family? xD
