Dueling '90: Somersby Fudge vs. Ginevra Blackwood -
NPC - January 4, 2020
January 5th, 1890 — Headquarters of the London Society for the Practice of Combative Magic
Merlin's balls what was this once noble tournament coming to that the opponents were a youth barely out of school and a woman?! With suitably low expectations the Ministry official drafted for this particular duel indicated that Mr Fudge was to begin proceedings before he promptly got out of the way.

Somersby was entirely sure what had possessed him to sign up, perhaps to some degree his father was right and he didnt want a desk job, or perhaps he missed such practical application of magic. Whatever the reason he stood here now.
Somersby bowed to the lady before him before casting a charm to send birds at the lady's face to distract her.

Ginny had well in school...well...well enough. She had stayed until final year a feat not many if her class and gender had repeated but she was not a natural. She had entered mostly for fun.
When the young man was instructed to first and to be cast she prepared to send his spell back at him

Neither spells were especially effective but the young man certainly conjured birds - albeit fairly ragged ones that barely had any feathers - and they were enough to distract the woman.
"First point to Mr Fudge. Miss Blackwood, when you are quite ready."

Ginny laughed merrily at how silly the birds had looked and had indeed been very distracted from her casting. She composed herself enough to try and turn the young man's shoes to tea kettles

Ragged birds or not, they had at least done the trick. Perhaps fireworks this time, Somersby considered before casting star shaped fireworks from his wand in the lady's direction.

Mr Fudge, who perhaps out to consider a career in law enforcement given his display today, was far too quick for the young lady and her spell went completely off-course in the face of the fireworks sent in her direction.
"Mr Fudge takes the duel and will progress to the next round."
