It had been some time since he had guided Miss Whitledge on how to become an animagus and he felt that it would do her good to touch base. He was looking forward to seeing her succeed though he knew that realistically that would take some time yet. He wanted to be sure that she understood everything though and see if she had any questions. All in all, he just wanted to check in the young ladies progress so he had asked her to meet him in his office, a chaperone on hand for the brief meeting. She seemed a bright girl so he didn't forsee this taking very long.
Even with the plague on the school known as Jemima Farley and her stupid little diary, Sweetie had found plenty of time to study both her normal classes and her animagi research. Even though she had covered what was needed, she was also reading what wasn't. Histories of past failings and achievements, known facts on successful and failed animagi, and whatever else she could get her hands on to study.
Walking into her professor's office, she gave a bright smile in greeting. One of the few who even got to see such a smile. Chrysanta was another member of such an exclusive club. Most of the rest of the school? Not so much. Even though her uncle was a kind man, even he had not caught a glimpse of such a smile since she was a child. But that was irrelevant. Taking a seat, she set down the books she had brought with her. Some he had given her, and some that had been from the library.
Sweetie was a determined girl. Some of the books she had found on the matter had seemed to have not been opened in quite a while. If the house elves hadn't been dusting regularly, she would be sad to say that there might have been a thick layer of dust before she got her hands on such books. Perhaps she was overthinking things, but it was her opinion. "Hello Professor." She greeted.
Tae-min was probably one of the few people that didn't have experience with Miss Whitledge as being difficult. He had heard rumors but so far, she seemed fine to him. "Hello, Miss Whitledge. I thought I would check in with you and see how you're faring in your studies and if you have any questions." That was what he was here for, after all.
One could never call Miss Sweetie Whitledge a true trouble-maker... unless they were her brother. But he didn't count. Impatient and snippy, perhaps. But one to cause chaos? No. Not intentionally. What happened between her and Miss Backus a while ago had been a miss understanding that had gone horribly wrong. Ending up with a shattered relationship between siblings. But at this point, Sweetie felt that the only one left to really blame was Handsome. Miss Backus had been understanding, Sweetie had accepted her role in things, but Handsome had refused to let go of his ego and had been called out on such a thing.
But that was not something that the professor should need to worry about. Handsome was no longer in school, and Sweetie was no longer living under Handsome's roof. It was better this way. The Slytherin told herself that constantly as she missed her sisters. "I have been studying as much as I can, as well as keeping up with my class work. I have been reading up of past successes and failures of animagi on top of the average research. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to practice holding a mandrake leaf under my mouth in shorter periods of time over summer, so that I may get used to doing so for when the leaf would be needed?"
Tae-min listened as the girl spoke. She seemed quite bright so he wasn't surprised that she was putting in extra research. "I think that would be a good idea. You can figure out ways to hold it in your mouth without it falling out while you're eating or drinking," he said when she asked if it would be a good idea for her to practice with the mandrake leaf portion of things.
His further ideas as to why her own would be a good idea was rather helpful. She hadn't considered food or drink as a factor yet. Which was why a teacher was exactly what she needed to further her process along. "Indeed. Thank you. I'll be sure to ask my guardian if I may do so during summer. Wouldn't want to be considered rude if I begin speaking oddly with a leaf in my mouth." Unlike the situation with her brother, the one with her uncle was a good relationship. She dearly hoped to keep it that way.
"That's quite true," Tae-min agreed with a chuckle. It could be a bit of a hindrance at times though he had learned how to talk even with the leaf in his mouth. It was a tricky business. "Was there anything else you wanted my help with?" Tae-min asked since she seemed to have everything down pat thus far.
She took a moment to think. Nothing immediately came to mind, though pausing for a moment and really thinking on the matter might lead to a question. But none came and she shook her head. "None that I can think of." Writing letters over summer would certainly be a wise option though.
"Very well. Don't hesitate to reach out to me for anything at all. Even over the holidays," Tae-min offered as he stood so that he could usher her out.
Tae-min smiled and nodded in agreement to the girls words. He was definitely looking forward to seeing how the young girl progressed in her studies. She seemed to have a bright wit about her with a lot of potential and it was personally a bit of a thrill to think of himself as helping someone become an animagus like he was.
