IC Christmas Gifts 1888 -
Bella Scrimgeour - December 14, 2018
Also known as: the "How creative is everyone this year?" thread.
For reference, here are some facts about Victorian Christmas:
- Whereas children from middle class/wealthy families were given handmade (and often expensive) toys, WC parents often stuffed their children's stockings with fruits and nuts.
- That was, at least, until industrialization made it easier for companies to mass produce lesser-quality toys and gifts.
- Christmas cards have been sent since 1843, but their popularity rose in the 1870s and 1880s!
- It was inappropriate for unmarried men and women to exchange gifts, but don't let that make you think it never happened!

Billie Farrow - December 19, 2018
Billie is SO EXCITED for a happy Christmas that she went out of her way to try and spread an absurd amount of holiday cheer. (In her own way.) And gift people with random things she traded for, found, or made.
Gideon Ollivander received a terrible drawing of him, her, and the two cats with the words "Mere Crismus Gidein" scrawled at the top. She struggled with what else to get him, not sure she could ever repay him for letting her stay with him. She ended up deciding on saving up money from rat catching and other odd jobs to purchase him what the person at the stall told her was a great knife. It looked pretty, anyways. It had a dragon on the handle. She thought he could use it in his wand making. (Billie also probably begged Quin to help her make him cookies or somesuch.)
Quincey Honeyduke Billie
stole borrowed Quin's hammer and constructed a lopsided wooden box with a questionable rope handle. A nice artist she knew let her sweep and do a few chores for him in exchange for his help in painting on "Sweets Supplies" on the side. Which was for the best, for it would have said 'Swet Splis' if she had done it. Inside the box is also Quin's hammer.
The Sisters Potts! Billie traded a kid she knew two bread rolls for a small, chipped up pot. With a rock, she scratched into the side of it "Potts Pot." Someone helped her spell them. Inside the pot, she planted a somewhat dead flower she'd pulled from somewhere.
@'Benevolence Montague' saved her from an evil plant. So, she was gifted with what some kid told her was a medal, but was actually just a bookmark.
Ginger, the Niffler, was sent the shiniest button she could find on the street. Actually, Billie went a bit overboard and sent a collection of them.
Eugene Scamander was almost forgotten in her excitement about Ginger, but then Billie remembered and sent him a mismatched, in both color and size, pair of gloves. To protect his hands in case something tries to bite him. One of them is definitely a women's glove.
The cats, Adonis and Soot, got a bed Billie made out of a fraying sack and random squishy things shoved into it.
Jimmy Fletcher got a punch to the face.
Most of the gifts are accompanied by phonetically spelled (and sometimes gibberish) notes.

Bella Scrimgeour - December 25, 2018
Edric Umbridge's gifts:
February Umbridge is getting a gift basket that includes perfume; enchanted, mood-changing (& pain-soothing!) soaps; a monogram-engraved wand stand to be used at night; and a few books that he didn't find in their library.
Sydney Podmore is getting lots of booze and a magical cactus-looking plant that moves ever-so-slightly when it senses fear or paranoia. He totally can't wait to hear about it.
Bella Scrimgeour's gifts:
Imogen MacFusty is getting a new basket Bella tried to hand-weave herself, but ended up using magic to complete because she's not as skilled with the arts as she'd like to be.
Malcolm MacFusty is getting a poorly-drawn picture of Mordred "sleeping" and a bottle of Jewell's firewhiskey she probably flirted her way into getting for a cheaper price.
Isobel MacFusty (WHO NEEDS TO BE PLAYED, MIRI & BEANS) is getting a stuffed Hebridean Black that Bella has affectionately dubbed "Doshie the Dragon".
Brendan & Findlay MacFusty are getting wooden blocks to play with or throw at each other.
James MacFusty is getting a bottle of "dragon-breath" firewhiskey. And probably sex, too, but only if he doesn't manage to upset her that night.
Tilda MacFusty is getting a book Hebridean plants that can be used for healing, with specific annotations by Bella because she's been studying that on top of her work for Mac.
Julius Scrimgeour, @"Lucille Flint", Terpsichore Van Helsing, Regina Lacey, Gemma Simpson, and Fletcher Langley are getting Christmas Cards to let them know she's alive. And where to find her, if they so desire to see her :P

Imogen MacFusty - December 26, 2018
ImmieMalcolm MacFusty is getting baby news (everyone else will know after the New Year) and a new portfolio to keep his bookwork in. It has an illustrated etching of a dragon on the front of it - it sleeps while closed, flies when open, and occasionally spouts fire.Bella Scrimgeour is getting a small holiday bonus and some frosted cookies made by all three children with love - and by 'love' I mean it's more frosting than cookie tbh. :P
The kids each got a toy each, but their main present (lbr it's mostly Izzy's) is their new Kunekune pig!
Kentigern MacFusty & James MacFusty are getting whiskey and cookies each, though Immie added some treats and chew toys for Jamie's wolves, too.
