Jingle Bells - Desiderius Morgan - December 25, 2025

December 23, 1895 — Snow Ball; Sleigh Rides

Dashing thro' the snow,
In a one-horse open sleigh,
O'er the hills we go,
Laughing all the way;

Bells on bob tail ring,
Making spirits bright,
Oh what sport to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight.

Desi had not really been on a sleigh ride ever since a disastrous one he had gone on years prior. He had been all too easily convinced to partake in one tonight. The Snow Ball had seemed to have some hiccups with repeating sets and the scheduled sleigh rides being a little delayed. In that time, however, Desi had enjoyed the company of a lovely, young woman. So much so that they had agreed in partake in a sleigh ride together.

Finally, the time had come to board the sleighs and Desi helped his lady companion into the sleigh. From what he understood, it would circle Hogsmeade and return to the garden and the night would continue from there. That was just fine by Desi. "I hope you aren't too cold," Desi said with a chuckle since the sleigh was open and thus left them a little bare to the elements aside from a fluffy blanket. If she had to snuggle closer for warmth, who could really blame either of them?

The bells from the sleighs reins made him think of a song and he smiled at his companion of the moment. "Do you sing?" Desi asked, the melody of Jingle Bells quite stuck in his head. It would be such a pleasant moment if she were also inclined to sing and was willing to do so with him as they glided over the fields of Hogsmeade. They had been having such a lovely time so far. What fun it would be to ride and sing!

His spirits were certainly bright as he enjoyed the time he was having with this particular young lady, the snowfall around them making things feel even more unbearably romantic. The snow was smooth beneath them and the sleigh felt like it was gliding through the skies themselves. It did feel a bit like the horse was not following the other sleighs though and kind of going along its own path. Desi was not yet concerned about this if it meant the ride could last longer.

RE: Jingle Bells - Philomena Sprout - December 25, 2025

It had been madness. This was madness. The Snow Ball itself had left something to be desired, and while Phie wasn’t someone who required much to be impressed, the event seemed to have something lacking about it; so much that she had almost asked Ludwig to bring her home. Her feet were killing her, and the world seemed to have taken on a slight halo glow; a sign that her headaches were coming back, and she would likely need to lay down.

But she’d been convinced to stay at the last moment.

He was quite charming, and an agreeable dancer which seemed to convince Phie to stay, though she still had her doubts that the rest of the evening would remain hiccup-free. Mr. Morgan had helped her into the sleigh like a gentleman before giving her the blanket. Warming charms helped with the cold, but Phie readily buried her hands in the blanket to stave off the chill that was already starting to creep back in. In the end it wasn’t needed. Phie found herself more animated with him than she had felt in quite some time, and even had warmed up to the point where she was gesticulating with her hands; a blanket was no longer needed.

His next question took her only slightly off guard, and she furrowed her brows, though her smile was still on her face. “I suppose I can carry a tune,” She responded. “Though I don’t think I’d consider myself a singer.”
