Tell Me You're Well - Fletcher Langley - June 21, 2018

June 9th, 1888

Eavan,

I've just seen the Daily Prophet. I'm not sure what to think of all of this fog but please, please tell me you're well. If you or your cousins have a need and decide to leave Irvingly, I will secure accommodations for all of you.

Just..please be careful.

Yours,
Fletcher

Fletcher,

So far it's just foggy! It's like a blanket, just covers everything, very upsetting to the animals. It's been very busy for us since its appearance and I sincerely hope it dissipates soon.

I'm perfectly well, however, thank you for your concern. We'll be just fine, though your offer is incredibly sweet, we have to hold down the fort at the zoo, don't want any repeats of the World Market disaster lest the tigers get out. I hope all is well with you.
Affectionately,
Eavan

Eavan,

How are the animals? I imagine they're not taking well to the sudden changes. I hope no one ends up harmed with all of this. I'm concerned about the origins of this fog but it doesn't sound as if anyone really knows where it's come from. Hopefully it is taken care of soon.

We've been tasked with getting as many potions as we can prepared to have sent to Hogsmeade in the event they're needed. I've hardly left the hospital since I got the memo. Little sleep, for sure but I'm not certain I'd be able to. I worry about you.

Yours,
Fletcher

Fletcher,

It doesn't sit well with the animals unfortunately. I obviously don't know, but the fog strikes me as a little unnatural, which would make sense that it upsets them. Fortunately the owls seem to be fine, they don't operate solely on eyesight however, which makes it easier to send post.

Please don't worry about me, I've faced far worse situations than being mostly confined to the aviary. I'm thinking about setting up camp in my office so I can be easily accessible if things go wrong. If you keep telling me you're not sleeping, I'm going to be the one worrying. Please take care of yourself.
Affectionately,
Eavan

Eavan,

I imagine you've got your hands full with the animals and keeping them calm. If there's something that we can brew here that you think may help, let me know. I'm sure a large owl could get things to you in small amounts if needed. Perhaps calming droughts?

You'll be glad to know that I got about six hours of sleep last night. I probably would have gotten more but Tink's been feeling a bit unloved I think since I've been spending so much time at the hospital. When I didn't wake up to feed her when she wanted, she started chewing on my pillow. While I was using it. Needless to say, she'll be getting an evening spent with me to appease her.

Yours,
Fletcher

Fletcher,

We're alright for the most part, but I will keep the calming draughts in mind. Fortunately for me, the aviary is a bit of a haven amidst the fog. I do worry the magic surrounding the zoo itself won't hold however. That would be very worrisome.

You can't neglect poor Tink! Or yourself for that matter, I wish you would get a good amount of sleep, it doesn't do anyone any good if you're over tired. It makes me worry and you're not even stuck in the fog. Please take care of yourself.
Affectionately,
Eavan

Eavan,

That's not the most reassuring of thoughts. I can't imagine the havoc loose creatures would cause in Irvingly. Especially if you can hardly see them amidst the fog. Are you certain you don't want to come here? I would gladly give my bed up to you. I do have a rather comfortable couch after all.

And I promise to no longer neglect myself or Tink. We actually shared a quiet evening simply resting. And the next thing I knew, we'd slept for nearly an entire day. Good thing I wasn't needed at the hospital. I do suppose I'm allowed to have a day off at least once in the span of two weeks even if everyone seems to be in crisis mode.

Yours,
Fletcher

Fletcher,

I'm completely fine, I promise. Have a little faith in me, I've been doing this for a long while. I've fully moved into my office, we're all taking turns being here overnight in case something goes awry. So far, so good however. As long as nothing winds up in the paper, assume we're doing just fine.

I'm glad to hear you were able to get some rest, like I said you won't be at your best if you're exhausted. Hopefully this won't last too much longer and things will settle down.
Affectionately,
Eavan

Eavan,

I do have faith in you but I can still worry, can't I? My family is there in Irvingly as well. All of this fog nonsense has me on edge. Especially since I can't be there with any of you. It's frustrating.

I'm glad you're well though. Tink and I shall persevere. Work is actually hectic. We've been making extra potions and antidotes so that they can be sent with Ministry officials as they're needed so even if we aren't busy with patients, we're busy stocking up on such things.

Yours,
Fletcher

Fletcher,

You really needn't worry about me, though I suppose I can't stop you. I can stop in and see you family if you like, but I'm not sure how well that would go over? I assume you've been writing to them as well. There's really nothing all that worrisome over here, other than a dense layer of fog. We can't use magic in the streets anyway, so it's not all that different.

It seems this phenomenon has everybody in a tizzy, though I can understand that its mysterious origin must be some kind of vexing to the ministry.

I have some news I've been waiting to tell you, because I wasn't exactly sure how to bring it up. My father appeared on my doorstep last week, decided on a whim to leave the Amazon and come see me. He made to town just before we were completely covered by fog. It's been... interesting, but I'm happy to see him. I'm not sure what we want to do or tell him, so I haven't said anything yet. That's a decision we should likely make together.
Affectionately,
Eavan

Eavan,

Yes, I've been writing them. Mostly Abigail. She seems to be going stir crazy. I really do think you need to meet them sometime. I think you two would get along well. You remind me a lot of her. Not one to sit idle for long before needing to do something.

I'm not entirely sure what to tell your father if I'm being honest. I suppose the truth would be best. Except for maybe how our picnic was spent. I'd like to stay alive long enough to see you down the aisle. Really, I trust you. Whatever you think is best is certainly the best route.

Yours,
Fletcher

Fletcher,

You're right, we do sound similar. Is it bad that the thought of it still makes me a little nervous? I just worry they won't think I'm good enough. I suppose that's silly, but still.

I honestly don't know what to do about my father. I don't know yet how long he's staying or what his future plans are. I would like to tell him, but I also think I'd like for you two to meet at the same time, that way it's coming from both of us, not just me?This is all very new territory for me. It's selfish, but I really do enjoy keeping everything between us, though that cannot last forever either, i suppose.
Affectionately,
Eavan

Eavan,

There's really no need to be nervous. I know they'll love you. All they want is for me to be happy. If anything, my mother will be miffed with me for not being the one to have arranged our meeting. She's been trying to get me handed off for years now and the fact I found someone without her shoving you at me will be her only issue.

Well..perhaps we can meet sooner rather than later. I've decided to enlist in the Expedition that was announced in the Daily Prophet this morning. If nothing else, I'll get to see you.

Yours,
Fletcher

Fletcher,

I'll have to take your word on that until we do finally meet. As for my own father, I think I'm going to wait until all of this fog nonsense is over...

He and I have both signed up for the expedition as well. I must admit I'm a little surprised to hear that you have yourself. Don't they need you at the hospital? It's not like he and I are doing much over here. I'm thrilled that I'll get to see you, don't get me wrong, but I doubt it will be for very long.
Affectionately,
Eavan

Eavan,

I was signing up in an attempt to be able to see you and to check in on my family. I hadn't expected you to sign up as well, though..

I guess I'll be meeting your father sooner than expected then.

Yours,
Fletcher
