Dunstan is a bright, optimistic and cheerful young man despite the prejudices often thrown his way due to his heritage. He is sweet, thoughtful and does his best to make the most of each day. Partly because he found out that he actually died in some other timeline that his sisters remember due to wonky Leap Day happenings. This is a secret though that Dunstan has never told anyone.
FRIENDS | So long as they are not outright prejudiced towards him and his family, Dunstan will accept almost anyone as a friend. Though he is probably not palling around with people much younger than himself.
SCHOOLMATES | Dunstan should have began his schooling in 1887 but due to the half-breed ban did not start his first year until 1888. He was sorted into Hufflepuff. He took Arithmancy and Divination as his electives, both of which he has a great talent for despite not being a Seer. He graduated this year.
I know he's a NPC (until he's adopted) but Henry Thompsett was the same year and just graduated and I could totally see Henry (Gryffindor) having been friendly with him.
Also Sybille was in his house and year and given her own family history I'm sure she'd have befriended him.
Antelope Grace is in his house a couple of years younger so they might be friends. She just did a major herbology project where she named all her plants after famous literary vampires which he might have been curious about. Lamia now lives in the common room.
Daesyn Mackenzie is a couple of years in the other direction and might find him fun, perhaps even fancy going our for drinks and a stake?
I think Dunstan is probably the reason Rex recognizes that half-vampires aren't totally bad. He's still prejudiced against them as a concept, but has no issues with Dunstan as a person.
Wow sub "half-vampire" for "black" or "gay" and Rex kind of sucks but

I am down for Antelope/Dunstan being friendly!
He probably would not be palling around with Daesyn, sorry so say. Like he'd be friendly enough if they ever crossed paths but she is not someone he'd be going out for drinks with at any rate lol.

I have an open for family set at the Ruskin family home, if he ever swings by to visit!
Hi StepBro, not sure of our actual relationship due to age differences and the fact he graduated just before she begins her first year but Ariel idolises you (pretty much all her elder stepsiblings tbh) and their existence in her life has been pretty impactful regarding her opinions on equality and vampire rights.
