A ONE-SIDED ROULETTE: Valentines Style -
Aldous Crouch - January 30, 2025
This is: me having too much time on my hands.
February, the month of ~love, is almost upon us. One matchmaking seer, in particular, really wants to see love bloom. She has sent to assorted bachelors/widowers* each a small watercolour of a woman with a note:
I have divined that she is your soul's other half.
No name. No other details. Only a face, and the rest is up to your character. Will he dismiss the matter as Hogwash? Immediately start searching for the woman in question? Does he know her, and if so, how does he feel about this proposal? Will he use this as motivation to pursue someone who looks
reasonably like the portrait, even if she isn't who the seer intended?
This is a little
plot bunny for your lad. What you do with it is up to you!
* These would be...
- At least half human
- UC/MC and not completely shut out from society
- WC in positions of note (aurors, business owners, healers, etc.)
- Unmarried, widowed, or even divorced. They may, however, be engaged or courting. #Yolo
IC, these would be delivered by a liveried messenger on February 13th, which is weird in and of itself.

If Don Juan received one he immediately dismissed it as rubbish and binned the watercolor but if any friends/family/etc wanted to be around when it's delivered and make fun of him about it, I'd thread that. And/or someone to recover the picture and share it with a woman it kind of looks like and tease
her about it.
Ezra Applegate would not seek someone out but WOULD be very weird around them when he next saw them and I would LOVE a volunteer for thread(s)

Harrison would be very curious and would likely set his staff to finding out who the woman is. He is actively looking for a wife so any lead is worth following, however unexpected.

I have no gentlemen, but I volunteer Tori for any awkward "Is that her?" threads, if anyone's interested. xD

I LOVE this and HC that Basil and Anthony both received one. Basil, as expected, will have chucked his in the trash with annoyance and maybe an angry owl to his mama. (Potential post fodder once I’m back in the swing of things.)
ANTHONY HOWEVER, has probably latched onto his portrait and - despite his better judgement - can’t forget about it. We shall see.

omg yess, I could offer Greer or
Annora McKelvey for this!
or
Emmett Harper,
Eugene Scamander or
Sydney Podmore but I would only do something with it, if it turns into a thread!
