Back at school - Bonnie Greyback - September 7, 2024

September 9th, 1894

Father,

As expected, I thought it might be pleasant to drop you a letter once I had returned to school. I am so pleased to be back here and I think that my third year shall be good, but I shall miss the reach. There is quite a few new students in my house, including the headmaster's son, which is a surprise. We also had quite the strange reintroduction to our dorm, Peeves, that ghost is trouble, but he does make me giggle so.

Our first Quidditch game is on November 24th against Hufflepuff, I will write you before then no doubt but you need to make sure to fly my ravenclaw pennant from the reach on that day to make sure the omens are in my favour, I know it seems silly, but it's important to me. OK?

I already have much to do so I shall not spend too much time writing, please give my love to my sister and to Miss Allaway, I am trusting you not to marry her while I am away father!

My everlasting devotion,

Miss Bonnie Greyback

My dearest Bonnie,

Your letter arrived this morning, and I must say it brightened my day considerably. I am pleased to hear that you have settled back into school well and that your third year has begun on a promising note. It seems like only yesterday that I was watching you board the train for your first year, yet here we are.

The headmaster’s son in your house, you say? That is interesting. I trust you’ll let me know if he lives up to the high standards set by Ravenclaw. As for Peeves, that spirit has been a nuisance for as long as I can remember, but I’m glad his antics have brought a smile to your face. Perhaps there is some good in his chaos after all.

November 24th is duly marked in my calendar. Rest assured, the Ravenclaw pennant shall be flying proudly from the Reach on the day of your match. There’s no such thing as too much luck, and I shall do my part to see those omens are in your favour. If superstition helps keep your spirits high, then I’ll gladly indulge you. Just make sure you remember to send me all the details of the game—I expect a full report!

As for Miss Allaway, well, my dear, you needn’t worry about me making any hasty decisions in your absence. She’s perfectly capable of being charming company, but matters are far from settled. Besides, you know very well that no one could ever take your place.

Give my regards to your friends and take care not to work yourself too hard. Remember, life is more than books and Quidditch—though they’re important in their own way, of course. I look forward to your next letter, and I trust you’ll keep me updated.

With all my affection,
Your devoted Papa.
