it's a bird, it's a plane, it's... not a dragon -
Cadogan Glynn - June 15, 2024
“Actually, no.” Cadogan gently corrected a couple people excitedly chattering in the back of the group he was helping to lead around the farm,
“There aren’t any dragons here. There might be uh… a cat around somewhere? If you’re really interested in seeing an animal today.” He rubbed the back of his neck, already knowing that probably wasn’t the answer they were looking for. How many people came here today under the pretense of thinking they’d be able to see a dragon?
(Cadogan assumed most people had had their fill after the whole London incident, but apparently he was wrong.)
For the drabbler stamp, which counts as a CC activity. Open to two others.

Bonnie snorted ”You are telling me I came all this way and you don't have dragons? Well this cat better breathe fire” they joked to the older Ravenclaw. Bonnie knew the boy from school and their cousin's… husband’s… sister's…friend? hmm, they couldn't remember the exact family connection, but that didn't matter right now. They had just found our that the dragons were somewhere else. Bonnie smirked at their governess who looked ready to chastise then. ”Well, Mr. Glynn, I'm quite interested to see what else you have here.” They smiled teasing at the boy who would know their temperament already.

Dragons didn't consume her mind as it might have someone else, though Millie had been one of the few, to escape any personal tragedy from London last fall. The Glen was an escape enough even without its infamous dragons, one that shouldn't have surprised her to find other classmates attending the celebration. She shouldn't have been surprised to gravitate toward her fellow Ravenclaws, either, their house was hardly known for being gregarious enough to lure more varied types. “
Perhaps not an animal, but I was looking forward to seeing the saplings.” Trees were better friends than dragons, in her opinion.

A small laugh escaped Cad, only because the idea of a fire breathing cat was amusing to him – how many people would come to see that instead of dragon? He turned toward the two girls, both Ravenclaws who were familiar faces to him, and tipped his head toward the barn.
“We can stop by the barn first to see the cat and then go see the saplings.” The cat would be more disappointing than the trees. “
You can help replant one, if you’d like.” Cadogan turned on his heel, walking toward the barn, figuring that they would both follow him.

Bonnie nodded in agreement with both, they weren't honestly interested in seeing the cat, normally if Bonnie saw a cat on the islands, the redhead would look for a crossbow before it go in to troubling the nesting birds. The planting of saplings sounded a bit of fun though. ”My governess might need some smelling salts once she sees how muddy I am going to get.” Bonnie laughed and looked at the unsuspecting older woman. An upper class girl wasn't supposed to get dirty, but they also weren't supposed to reject the activities offered by a host, a real dilemma.

A bell in her own head sounded with Mr. Glynn's laugh, tinkling its approval. The young witch wished it would stop, the yearning to resist that effortless charm made a pit at the bottom of her stomach. She turned to the younger girl instead, whose cleverness had done her justice in the recent scavenger hunt. "
If only we were at school, a cleaning charm would ameliorate your worry." Millie had returned home with mud and dirt on her skirts often enough that her parents wouldn't fuss at it, Papa's sleeves often looked even worse. She followed the boy without hesitation.

Cad ignored the girls chattering as he led them into the barn. He clicked his tongue quietly as he let his gaze sweep above them, waiting for the demon cat, Kale to appear. He didn’t, and was probably sleeping somewhere in the rafters. Just as he was about to tell them that, the cat dropped from above them, his back arching as he hissed at them. Kale hated visitors.
The puddle of mud he landed in sprayed forward, although Cad didn’t blink. He wiped some mud off his forehead. “Gross.” He muttered, watching as Kale pounced into the puddle again.

“Perhaps, but its not me that worried.” Bonnie replied to Miss Potts with a smile and a shrug. The barn was as expected, little going on except a rapidly descending cat ready to chase them all away. Greyback giggled as mud landed on Cadogan. “OK, I'll give the cat a couple of points for entertainment value at least.” They looked at the errant feline and gave it a little playful growl baring their teeth and then giggling again. The smell in the barn made Bonnie think that it might be a little more than mud, but they wouldn't say anything.

Perhaps you will be someday, the young witch thought of her younger companion, but she kept it to herself. She was surprised to find Mr. Glynn more eager to go first, stepping into protect the girls from the mud-splashed arrival of the barn's feline guardian. Houstonia was never so hostile to newcomers, though Millie's cat had too much of his own mind for her liking at times. She crouched toward this strange cat, offering her hand in a show of non-aggression. "
Now then, there's no need to give Mr. Glynn a bath. I’m sure he’s quite capable of washing himself."

At least the girls hadn’t gotten any of the mud on them, even if Cadogan felt he needed to take a bath. He couldn’t help but grin at Kale being entertaining for the younger one, even if it was at his expense. That was the point of the event, wasn’t it? Ensuring people had a good time. Kale was quick to scamper away from Miss Potts, causing Cad to laugh as he turned his gaze toward them. “
Come on, I’ll hand you over to my sisters who will help you plant the saplings…” He would leave them to go change.
