Reputation: 8 - Hettie is an energetic, mischievous creature. Cheerful and friendly, certainly, of good breeding and with a strong family to back her, and she does well in school, but she has a surplus of energy and an
unfortunate habit of wriggling her way out of the restraint of supervision. Her chaperons have lost her many a time.

Appearance:
- Ethnicity: Caucasian
- Height: 5’3”
- Hair: Long, woody brown, and quite wavy.
- Eyes: Large, and pale green
- Wand Hand: Ambidextrous
- Build: Harriet is every inch her mother’s daughter. Growing rapidly upward with no sign yet of stopping, and inheriting her slender build, she could be an echo of Sera’s youth. She is, however, more delicate in the face, with immense curious eyes often glittering with mirth.
- Attire: Hettie likes to make a statement. That is true of her behavior, and that is true of her clothes. She does not necessarily bow to seasonal trends. Easily bored with fashions new or old, she seeks instead the dramatic, the unique, the unexpected. She is also unfortunately fond of passing the whole day in a tea gown, should her schedule be left open.
- Demeanor: A source of constant motion, Harriet fidgets constantly– with the hems of her sleeves, the lace on her bodice, her own fingers– no matter how often she has been commanded to stop. She focuses best with something in her hands, always needing some outlet for her constant undercurrent of energy. Harriet walks tall, always smiling and often laughing. She is certainly not one to go overlooked.

History:
- 1880: It… might be argued that Harriet Bythesea was born into a happy home. She was certainly born into a peaceful one. Her father did and demanded as he liked, and her mother objected to none of it. Objected to nothing. Over the years, Harriet would come to understand that her mother had no opinions at all.
- 1882: Harriet’s mother was… absentminded, and her father chronically distant. The arrival of a younger brother– named Algernon, her grandfather’s precious namesake– did nothing to help matters. She quickly came to despise the child, and would spend both their toddling years being something of a menace to him. By her reckoning, father yelling at her was better than father ignoring her. And anyway, nothing she did upset her mother any.
- 1885: The birth of her second brother, Bernard, earned less of Harriet’s ire. Half because she still had Algernon to antagonize, and half because in the weeks beforehand she earned the undivided attention– and frequent scoldings– of a new governess. Harriet took well to schooling. She did not take quite so well to the extended periods of time she had to sit still for said schooling, and though she excelled in her lessons she was scolded frequently by both her governess and her father for acting out.
- 1886-1890: Over the years which followed, Hettie’s need to move and do at all times did not decrease. If anything it worsened. She developed a habit of vanishing shortly before her lessons each morning, thus forcing her governess to spend a chunk of each day searching for her student in place of teaching.
- 1891-1892: Hettie will never forget arriving in the Great Hall for the first time. Her first year at Hogwarts promised to be full of excitement, adventure, and novelty– and she needn’t see her parents until the Christmas holiday began. She was sorted into Gryffindor. It did not take her long to garner a reputation for mischief. Though she thrived in her practical classes, she struggled with more theoretical work. She received her very first detention in the spring of her first year, for skipping History of Magic with a gaggle of her housemates.
- 1892-1893: In her second year, Hettie’s conflicts with her father worsened. He had always been strict with the children, and he considered her mischievous behavior at school unacceptable. She elected to remain at Hogwarts for the holidays.
- 1893-1894: Hettie expected her third year at Hogwarts to be no different than the first two, save that there was the opportunity to visit Hogsmeade some weekends with her friends, but just a few weeks before the school year began everything… shifted. Out of seemingly nowhere her mother became something more. No longer vacant-eyed and obedient, Hettie did not recognize at all the woman Seraphina became. At first she didn’t know how to deal with the change, and having it on her mind disrupted the beginning of her school year badly. Her grades plummeted, and she found herself in remedial tutoring following the year’s first assessments. Though she managed to turn her scores around and pass the year, they were not as high as they had been in years past– and certainly not as high as her father expected.
Personality:
- Outgoing
- Energetic
- Charming
- Passionate
- Altruistic
- Witty
- Sarcastic
- Obstinate
- Restless
- Demanding
Hettie has the spirit of a trickster and the smile of a saint. She is fun-loving, generous, and viciously loyal– never one to be left out of any sort of event. She finds it easy to approach even complete strangers, and makes friends quickly. A bright girl with a mind like a sponge, her need for constant entertainment can make her something of a handful for those who are meant to look after her. She resents being controlled or coddled only slightly less than she hates being
ignored, and a moment’s passing boredom can seem like torture to her. Fiercely independent and ill inclined to listen, Hettie tends not to recognize her own errors until it’s too late.
Other:
- Amortentia: The bite in the air which leads to rain, lilac, and fresh hay.
- Patronus: A Fox (or it will be)
- Boggart:
- Favorite Food: Victoria Sponge
- Quirks:
- Though scathingly clever with a mind like a steel trap (at least, for things that interest her), Harriet struggles to focus on anything she might deem boring. Like History of Magic, or Magical Theory.
- It is no secret that she dreams of someday running her own household, throwing parties that people will talk about– and look forward to each year– for decades.
- Hettie adores animals of all shapes and sizes. She has been trying to wheedle an unusual pet out of her father for some time, finding it useless to ask such things of her mother.
- The more her father punishes her for slipping her chaperon’s leash, the more determined Hettie seems to become to do it.
- She has an unquenchable sweet tooth.
- Skills:
- She loves to dance. She thrives in a ballroom, and seeks any opportunity to learn a new dance she might teach to her peers.
- She speaks English, French, and has a solid foundation in Latin.
- She learned to play the piano, but she hated it.
- Hettie maintains an endless roster of party games, which she can produce at any given moment.
