Hurling Season 1894 - Fortitude Greengrass - May 26, 2024

last year's thread for reference. For folks who haven't done this before, this thread is to post stats on your characters - use this thread to browse/peruse, but take your actual plotting or thread-coordinating to other plot threads, DMs, Discord, etc.

Use this thread to post the folks you want to hurl this season - for marriage, affairs, or anything romance-adjacent. You specify what you're looking for. Choose from five options, in any combination:

— Romance/Sentiment: you (or your character) want ~feelings, whether that comes with a ring or not.
— Marriage: self explanatory, lol.
— Sex: also self explanatory.
— Ongoing Affair: relationships that contain either sex or feelings but without the marriage aspect.
— Unrequited: If you're interested in your character getting hung up on someone who doesn't return their feelings and ~pining. Also can be used for mutual pining if you want to go the Jude/Kieran route.

There is also a section to specify YOUR HURLING STYLE PREFERENCE:

— CASUAL: You don't care about a particular endgame, or at least not on any particular timeframe. You want things to play out IC and are okay with just seeing where things go. [The LynnShip example: Zelda & Alfred Darrow who took years to meander through their tribulations towards marriage].

— PURPOSEFUL: You have some specific goals/milestones you'd prefer to hit, but not badly enough that you want to feel rushed or force anything. You still want to play most things out in threads, but are fine with also discussing some things that happen offscreen to keep things moving along. You might decide to prioritize a specific ship or set up rapid-fire dates. [The LynnShip example: Christabel & Victor Daphnel, whose interest was established in threads but whose courtship mostly occurred offscreen].

— TARGETED: You have a deadline and are willing to do whatever needs to be done offscreen to meet that deadline, while staying true to the characters. You're comfortable using NPCs to move things along or inventing plot points to suit your aims. You don't require old threads to be wrapped before progressing the plot. [The LynnShip example: Emrys Selwyn & Octavia Fawley, whose whole season-long relationship was more often referenced in other threads than actually posted about directly xD]

OOC Ideal: things that would intrigue me:

• it was meant to be no-strings-attached but we caught feelings
  
• pregnancy scare means Ezra suddenly has to warn you about his curse
  
• whatever happens with us spurs Ezra into doing something more with Rosalie

Ghost husband still around, ideally guy would be intellectual or radical - open to something less than appropriate - a Micheal Gregson esq situation with an asylum wife etc.

IC Ideal: An intellectual equal, someone with similar radical ideals - idealist if nothing else or an artist.
OOC Ideal: a disaster - a bit like her. Either too idealistic, not realistic, broke, or some other drama that makes him a terrible idea. Hateships or revengeships are also great.

Hurling Grounds: She can be most places.

IC Ideal: Socially/politically liberal types. Someone who takes her seriously.
OOC Ideal:
Evangeline is Steph's Character Most Likely to Marry Down, lbr.

IC Dealbreakers: Romance - being married. Being a woman. Being intellectually challenged.
Marriage - Being someone who could develop actual romantic feelings for him.

IC Ideal: Boy just wants someone to challenge him. That's really all he wants. For marriage, he'd highly prefer someone he could be friends with.
OOC Ideal: Beard marriage is the name of the game here. But also, pining.

Hurling Grounds: He mostly hangs out around London, but can potentially be anywhere at events.

IC Dealbreakers: No Muggles, no one who'll discourage her reading.

IC Ideal: Love, really. She knows it's a long shot, but she desperately wants to find a storybook romance — with the caveat of also getting to continue her reading.
OOC Ideal: I'd love to see Mina married, even if she's unhappy; as such, I am up for Getting Caught in a Compromising Position, or whatever might cause her to be forced into a match she does not find ideal.

My Hurling Style Preference: PURPOSEFUL

IC Dealbreakers: Law enforcement, simply because her job can skirt the legal grey areas. Any man who seeks a housewife or otherwise stops her having her career.

IC Ideal: A man who can scrub up nice for the parents, but deep down he is just as rough around the edges as her. Someone she can have fun with and be herself. A happy marriage, she won't play the part if the miserable spouse who stays for appearance sake. She comes from an army family, so a physically strong and confident man is her "type".

She would sleep with a married man if discretion would be assured, or even the woman if the situation was right, but she wouldn't make a pattern of it. And once she is formally attached, she expects both parties to remain faithful to their marriage. This could include consentual physical openness provided the marriage is still respected.

OOC Ideal: I like characters to have a proper connection beyond a whirlwind romance and to know/understand each other's motives. This involves seemingly mundane threads where they learn or develop little snippets of their combined personalities. This might take a little longer but I enjoy that. I was torn between casual and purposeful but developing relations ooc off screen is helpful too.

Hurling Grounds: Lives mostly in London, spends a lot of time in her family home in Inverness but regularly frequents Hogsmeade to visit friends.

Bonus: Her parents recieved an anonymous letter in 1894 promising marriage to Daesyn sometime soon, this person's identity is not established in any way so a perfect entry for someone to swoop and try to take her.

OOC Ideal: I see Grumpy/Sunshine for her if I'm aiming for a specific trope, but that's not a dealbreaker; mostly someone who wouldn't mind also incorporating this stalker of hers that I'm giving her >D

Henry Berkwood has offered to financially support her + Marigold as Marigold's uncle, but Avery is still working at night in case she needs a backup plan.

IC Dealbreakers: Boringggggggg.

IC Ideal: Flirtations. Sexperiences. Friends-with-benefits. Sending love letters as a joke. Doing anything on a dare. Taking names and breaking hearts (getting men to have ~unrequited feelings for her and/or coming to call so she can turn them down and boast about it to her friends). Aggressively trying to win over any man who so much as looks at Iphigenia Adebayo out of jealousy probably.

OOC Ideal: ^ All of the above, but since she thinks she's super smart I am willing to get her in deeper than she can swim, ft. complications and possibilities of trouble. Also accidental feelings. Also also forcing her to interact with appropriate men her father has set her up with.

Also you could make her widower father and have him looking for a wife at the same time as ferrying his debutante daughter around? >D

Hurling Grounds: Any MC events. Irvingly. Avalon Glen. The Sanditon. Mattie will be doing a lot of "tagging along with friends & their chaperones" on social outings.

OOC Ideal: She is good for enemies to lovers OR just a loveless marriage founded entirely on spite. #unhappymarriagesftw
If she takes a fancy to a likely candidate she is not above schemes/entrapment into marriage. She could be convinced into an affair with a married man if she feels ~wanted. She is also trying to give herself a full personality makeover to make herself seem more desirable.

My Hurling Style Preference: casual bordering on purposeful, but I love that IC chemistry

IC Dealbreakers: Unwilling to step into the step mom role, too young probably won't work, poor communication.

IC Ideal: Eugene's looking for a good connection, not exactly a love match, but the next best thing that could eventually be more? He needs someone willing to take him with all of his baggage and step in to fill the shoes of Theseus' absent mother. Somebody patient without a ton of baggage themselves.
OOC Ideal: A really good slow burn.

Hurling Grounds: Oh just about anywhere reasonably.
