Mr. Protego Lochrin vs. Mr. Philomen Huxley - Tybalt Kirke - April 25, 2024

27th April, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms, Duelling tournament
Honestly, if Tybalt were named Protego, he fancied he would have been yearning to win this whole thing.

But he suspected this would be a fun one regardless, so – down to business. “Mr. Lochrin, whenever you're ready.”

While Protego fancied himself a reasonably talented spellcaster, he hadn't really had high expectations for this. Still, it was always nice to have one's talents reaffirmed--and making it past the first round in a dueling tournament at the very least said he was competent.

After bowing to his opponent, Protego cast a confundus charm.

Philomen was really just happy to be here. He did think it a bit ironic, though, as he cast protego against... well, Protego Lochrin.

The shield charm held, even against its namesake. That had to hurt in its own way, didn't it?

"The first point to Mr. Huxley, who may cast next," Tybalt said cheerfully, waving them onwards.

Philomen was honestly more pleased with himself just for the word play--is that what it counted as? Whatever--if nothing else. Next, he cast a bat bogey hex.

Well, that was just embarrassing.

Protego next cast a spell to turn his opponent's hands to stone. Couldn't very well cast if he couldn't hold a wand, right?

One could say that was a stone-cold move. But it had worked; Huxley's hands had turned practically statuesque.

"Mr. Lochrin evens the score, and may take us into the tie-breaker!"

That was much better. For his last spell, Protego cast a knock-back jinx.

Phil cast a disarming spell.

Mr. Lochrin really hadn't liked being the butt of a shield charm, had he? He had taken Huxley to task for it. Once again, the disarming charm came too late, a wild misfire against the knockback jinx.

"Mr. Lochrin wins!"
