Mr. Ignatius Prince vs. Mr. Madoc Yarwood - Charles Macmillan - April 16, 2024
April 27th, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms, Hogsmeade
Finally here was an interesting duel! If he had to put money on a winner he would've probably put it on Yarwood considering he was the more mature wizard and Prince was the... ancient something or other professor, it didn't really matter which ancient whatever it was because none of them had much to do with practical wandwork at the end of the day. At least not as far as he was aware. That didn't mean Prince couldn't be an accomplished duelist but Charles had no obvious reason to suppose he was at present.
The rules - I'm tired of trying to find different ways to mention the rules in my narratives so here they are, your characters have been schooled offstage fyi tyvm.

Ignatius hadn't had a duel for more than a year, the ex-cursebreaker had several magical combats under his belt, this should be quite fun. he readied his long rowan wand as Mr Macmillan introduced them before bowing his head politely to his opponent Madoc Yarwood .
"Ducklifors" he said, hoping to incapacitate his foe with a quick but temporary transfiguration.

Excitement.
That had long been Madoc's watchword, and his interests over the years—hunting, quidditch, dueling, dragons—had been cultivated to get his blood pumping, keep the wizard engaged. More than a week of quiet banality and he began seeking 'adventure', be that a large wager at cards or a trek in which one could potentially be eaten by a dragon.
Silently, Madoc cast a disarming spell with the aim of disrupting his opponent—and the other wizard's aim.

While Yarwood's spell was well timed enough to throw his opponent's aim, it would've won him the first round had it not been a split second too late to completely deflect it. As it was, Charles found himself watching Yarwood's skin turn downy with duck feathers while his mouth and nose began to morph into a beak. Otherwise he remained 5'9" and more or less man-shaped, although Charles couldn't say whether the man's feet had become webbed within the confines of his shoes. He also didn't really want to find out. The half transfiguration was actually quite horrifying and he had to attempt three hasty counter spells before the effects began to reverse. He'd be lucky if he didn't have nightmares about Maduck Yarwood tonight.
[Scores: Ignatius 8.5, Madoc 7]

It was not, Madoc had to acknowledge, the most successful first pass, but then, were dueling easy it would not be half so enjoyable to him. Being vaguely... ducked, though, did not do wonders for his pride. The wizard reminded himself that this was not a direct attack against his person in the traditional sense, and he shrugged it off—his had always been a personality better suited to offense, anyway.

The first round had gone well and as his opponent made the transition back to being fully human, Ignatius nodded respectfully at Madoc Yarwood before returning back to his stance.
The next round started and Ignatius cast "Stupefy" hoping to stun his opponent.

Prince's stunning spell was disrupted by the fact that his aim ended up transplanted several feet above Yarwood's person. Prince landed again with a 'thud' as decisive as the result of this round. The second round goes to Mr. Yarwood. Mr. Prince, please begin the deciding round when you're ready. Outfit | Tag: Ignatius PrinceMadoc Yarwood | Notes:

Ignatius landed heavily near knocking the breath out of him but quickly recovered himself. "Well... quite." he said with an amused tone. Last round it was then.

Charles was relieved he wouldn't have to hear Yarwood sing but he was intrigued to watch Prince's spell bounce off Yarwood's shield charm and right back at him. Prince, despite being hit with his own spell, didn't immediately burst into song. Curious. Perhaps he hadn't cast it properly? Regardless, the winner here was now apparent. Mr. Yarwood is the winner!
